U.S.A. New Mexico

Published

Hi everyone. Does anyone know how one should go about applying for the State board in New Mexico? After the school sends the official transcript and after completing the fingerprinting requirements, how long will it take before one could be given an ATT? Thanks and have a nice day!

here's hoping that others (who applied for new mexico licensure) will share their info on this subject. anyone?

HI to all! Just want to share my processing with New Mexico.

May 29 - TOR sent to New Mexico via LBC (Paid P1000)

June 08- EMailed BON to ask if they received it.

June 13- BON replied and said that I can now register to Pearson and submit my application (Yup, I haven't submitted it,coz I wanted to make sure that my credentials were comparable to that of US)

June 18- I registered to pearson

June 20-sent my application thru my sister who's in US coz I couldn't get MO here.(I used my mom's credit card to pay for the application fee $160)

June 22- received my ATT thru email ( and I have only till Sep 20 to schedule)

if you have any questions feel free to post.

thanks for sharing the info.

i heard that NM eligibility lasts for one year, but once you register with pearson the ATT is good for only 3 months. if you choose hk as test center, slots are usually open after 2 months, but there can be a chance to move the date earlier if somebody else's slot is moved to a later date.

thanks again. goodluck with the exam.

i checked with hongkong sched. sept 18 & 20 still open. earlier dates have been filled up already. i will call them tomorrow to schedule mine. hope the 2 slots are still open. the earliest is july 15!! and i can't take it that early!

do you have to be a local board passer (philippines) to apply to NM? i'm a new graduate and would like to skip taking the local board exam. thanks for all the info

No. NM BON only requires your TOR (directly from your school), application forms, fee, fingerprint cards and fingerprint fee. Processing time is approximately one month. Check the NM BON's website and look for the forms and instructions.

thanks kiko88.. would you be kind enough to send me the link for NM BON application... i went to their website http://www.state.nm.us/clients/nursing and downloaded http://www.state.nm.us/clients/nursing/forms/ExamApp.pdf but it's only 3 page and doesn't have the actual application.. and also can i do the fingerprinting here in the philippines or is that something that i have to wait till i get to the US.. thanks in advance

joannp, allow me to answer for kiko..

you have to choose programs for NON US GRADUATES. choice #2. http://www.state.nm.us/clients/nursing/forms/NonUSgrads.pdf

ALso download the state and crininal background check

http://www.state.nm.us/clients/nursing/forms/FingerprintingInst.pdf

you can have the fingerprinting at NBI carriedo. email the BON first to send you fingerprint cards 2 pcs.

i checked on that link too but the link is only 1 page explaining the requirement for non-us graduate :(

there used to be 5 pages in that application link. it's probably being updated/revised. i suggest you send an email to the clerk in charge with non-US school graduates/foreign exams and request for a printed copy of the application packet (including fingerprint cards) be mailed to you. give your full name and complete mailing address. (inform her that the BON's website's link to the application form has only the 3-page instructions but not the 2-page application form itself.) wait for 3 to 4 weeks. anyway, you really need to request for those cards. in the meantime, you can probably start to ask your school to send your TOR directly to NM BON. it can save you time too. read the other forms available in the website so you can prepare for the other requirements such as the acceptable ways of sending payment for all the fees.

NM BON email addresses are in: http://www.bon.state.nm.us/boardmembers.html

hey, in case you'll be interested, try to check the eligibility requirements too of vermont. so far, fingerprint check, english test and SSN are not required and the forms can also be downloaded. processing time, according to others, is 1 to 2 months. but, i think, after 2 unsuccessful attempts in the nclex, remedial classes are required (???). check it out.

what happened!!!? i just checked the page before i pasted it here. you're right, there's only one page left! where's the four pages? pm me your email add then i'll email you the form. i still have it i saved.

maybe the certificate of graduation eligibility is waived for non -us graduates.

graduates from state-approved programs

1. certificate of eligibility for graduation or final transcript with degree

awarded or to be awarded, indicating date of graduation and certificate or degree awarded, or to

be awarded must be received directly from the registrar's office prior to permission to take

nclex (national counsel licensure examination).

while for

non-us graduates

non-u.s. educated registered nurse and practical nurse applicants for licensure by examination in new

mexico must request an evaluation of their nursing education credentials to determine if they meet

requirements of the new mexico board. this evaluation will be conducted upon receipt of (1) an official

transcript sent directly to the board from the nursing program they graduated from (2) or if the transcript is

not in english, a copy of a translated transcript certified by a qualified translator sent directly to the board

of nursing.

Hi, I graduated in Davao City 10 years ago and right now I am staying here in Manila, I have questions regarding the sending of requirements either in NM or Vermont. About my TOR, my school in Davao City will send it to them, then other requirements like my payment and the application form, I will send it to them. May I know as to how they will know that the transcript is mine aside from the fact that I have my name on it but I am trying to think that there are thousands of nurses applying there. Iam sorry I still do not get it coz I am thinking that my TOR and my form will not definitely arrive there at the same time. May I know how the processes take place. Thank you very much
