NJCU ABSN 2014!

U.S.A. New Jersey

Published

Hi! Just thought I would start a new thread for NJCU, 2014 applicants! - Any thoughts/concerns regarding the application process or help from alumni is greatly appreciated! I'm applying to the Wall cohort for this May.

Hello Everyone!!

I received acceptance to the Jersey City cohort starting in Sept after being wait listed. God is Great!! Is there a group on facebook for us? So excited to meet you all!!

nusa161: the same thing happened to me!! I'm so excited! I got into a few other programs but I am choosing to attend NJCU because of the vast amount of money that I will be saving by doing so =) (like 50 grand total!!) so excited to meet everyone on June 26!

Congrats to you both! There is a Facebook group: NJCU ABSN 2014-2015 Jersey City

Congratulations wsc404 and nusa161!

How was the orientation? Just wondering what us Jersey City people should expect!

Hello Rotko15...Orientation was very informative. I think we needed more time to go over everything. It is a lot! Lots of things to do before starting the program! Wall cohort only has a little over a month to get everything done, but at least the JC students will have more time. They went over things like the handbook, uniforms, immunizations, CPR training, background checks, , financial aid, private loans, badges, books for the 1st semester, our schedules, travel study...

We had the chance to get our student IDs and order our uniforms. We also met students that are in the program now that spoke to us about the travel study opportunities.

:)

Hi wsc404!

Congrats on your acceptance, and welcome to the club! From what I heard, this program has a very good retention rate, and a first time NCLEX pass rate above 95%. I have also heard from nurse recruiters in a hospital I contract with that they really like NJCU grads, which was a big factor in why I chose to apply there. From other NJCU accelerated students who post here on allnurses.com, all of them said that it's completely doable, but because it's shorter than even most accelerated programs, working in addition to school is near impossible.

As far as the clinicals go, somewhere in the handbook it says that clinical sites can be within a 1 hour radius from the school (NJ only, no NY sites). Hope that helps! =D

Thanks so much for all of the helpful info!! Are you also in the program?

Yes I am! I think my heart stopped a little when I got the email because I put all my eggs in this basket LOL. I'm so excited to meet everyone!

I'm excited to meet everyone also! June 26 seems like it is so far away.... =)

Starting NJCU @ Wall for BSN Fall 2014. About to graduate the nursing program with associates next week! woot woot!

Congrats to all of you that are attending. I'm hoping some of you can assist me. I plan on applying for the next cohort. I'd really like some tips on the application process and studying for the hesi. I'm trying to get ahead of the game before the app opens up later this year. Any help is greatly appreciated.
