Hi! Just thought I would start a new thread for NJCU, 2014 applicants! - Any thoughts/concerns regarding the application process or help from alumni is greatly appreciated! I'm applying to the Wall cohort for this May. :up:

No I'm planning on applying for JC as well but if I can for Wall to double my chances I will. Lol Hopefully someone gets back to us soon because I want to prepare ahead of time.

I remember being in your shoes last year, and know it's stressful. Hopefully my little bit of advice can help :)

As far as the HESI goes, I used the 2nd edition Evolve study guide, my old A&P textbooks, and youtube. For the application process, you need to apply through NursingCAS. My advice to you is to start your application process as early as possibly can. It takes time to enter all your coursework, to have your transcripts and LORs received, and to get your application verified. Another suggestion is to attend one of their information sessions...you can get some good info there! Also, one more tip...apply to Wall first...in the event you do not get accepted then you can always ask to have your application reconsidered for the JC cohort :) at least that was how it was this application process, but I would ask just to double check.

sarsoora8 THANK YOU SO MUCH, & i agree anything can help especially since you just went through the process!! i want to state if possible in my app. i will go to either cohort. Also as for the other parts of the Hesi how did you study? and when did you take it? Also i have a question which may seem stupid lol.. for my Letters where would you suggest getting them, i have a hand full of people i can ask, but i am unsure if they would rather hear from my boss, someone i have volunteered with or a professor.

Also i looked on the website and the info session passed in March :/ .. do you think they will post another one for this year .. when did you go to yours?

Hi AlexandraT...sorry it's been a while since I checked the site. As far as the HESI, I studied from the review book, and I took it at the end of January. As for the letters of recommendations, I'm honestly not sure what kind of letters they would rather get. I had one submitted from an old manager and also a professor. The info session I went to was in March..don't know if they had another. You can always email someone in the nursing dept. and ask, or check the website...they have a lot of info on it!

@alexandrat, I'm not applying this year unfortunately, I have 3prereqs and they said on the website to finish them all before applying. Did you apply for this year?

@yenziea -how was the program for you? At what campus did you attend? Did you finish it prereqs before applying?

It went by fairly quickly. All I have to say is be organized, be on top of your walk, and you'll be fine.

I was in Jersey City. Yes, I finished all my pre-reqs before applying.
