Hi

I too am a stay at home mom with three kids age 5, 3 and 2!!! It is difficult to concentrate with them around but I try to study when they are either sleeping or watching T.V. etc... keep them busy is my motto!! I am right now on Suzanne's first tip.. still reading up and I do have a study plan like I decide I will complete a set amount of chapters and try my level best with all the cleaning cooking et al... dont try to retain any info as such.. practice Q's related to the topics you are reading and that will tell you what to focus on..that is what I do...hope this helps

Orca, I don't have any advice, but I thought it might make you feel better to know that I, too, am struggling with just the first tip...It's no problem when I can get a 75% on the Chapter quiz - but when I have to go back & re-read a chapter...it just takes me FOREVER!! I actually thought I was doing the first step wrong until I saw your post, so it's good to know I'm not the only one - thanks

I am going slowly but I am doing it. So far so good.

For those who are doing the program or did the program, I have a question. I'm not sure if I'm doing the first step correctly. Once I've completed the quiz at the end of the chapters, I look at the answers and read the rationales for all the questions, my problem is for the chapters that I did not score at least the required 75% on I now know the answers so when I go back and read that specific chapter and take the quiz over again I always get 100% because I've went over the right answers previously. Do anyone know if this is the correct way?

That is correct. If you do not get 75% or more the first time you read the chapter and do the quiz again, you should get a lot more.

i am exactly like you...i love it when I get 75%..I have just one question, in Saunders it has the pyramid on some interventions or topics. Is it alright to just focus on those and not pay much attention to those without it??? I'm 36 yrs old and it seems really very hard to retain information as compared to when I was younger. I used to study with the radio and TV on without any problems but right now its really a struggle. thanks jessica for your post. im also glad that im not alone:)

Hi Deetonia,

I am doing Suzanne's first tip and I can tell you she specifically told me that when you solve the quiz just check whether it is right or wrong ... calculate the %age and if less than 75% read the whole chapter and redo the test ... you are not supposed to read the rationales... when you do it the first time otherwise it would not really tell you whether you could retain the matter

Igmirnor,

Thank you for very much, that's exactly what I needed to know. I thought it was too easy the way I was doing it previously. Do you know what should be done if you get less than 90% after reading the chapter and re-taking the quiz?

Hi

If that happens, I just redo the part I missed out on for e.g.if it is regarding trach tubes then I read only trach...just so that I can say for sure that I have my content down pat...but the problem sometimes with me is I may miss the rationale for a particular question in which case ..I honestly just read the rationale provided!! anyway if you get over 75% i guess you can go on.. honestly it is difficult reading a entire chapter twice..:icon_roll...good luck to you on your test!
