Well, I took it this morning

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

It was the worst experience. I actually broke out in hives during the test.

I only KNOW I got 3 right out of 75. Honest to God, I narrowed it down to two options and guessed on pretty much every other question. And, AND I got 31 choose all that apply!!! :banghead: Plus, I was asked questions on things I had no clue on. I swear, NOTHING I studied in the last month-and-a-half was on the test....and what was on it....I never would have thought to study!

This is such a horrible feeling. I had a 4.0 in school and was an honors student and I swear none of that did anything for preping me for today. Torture.

I'm supposed to work on Friday when my results should be available. I'm not sure if I'll check until I'm off work for the day. I don't want it to ruin my shift if the word isn't good. I know I may have done fine, but I'm not holding my breath.

Good luck to everyone else out there waiting and about to take the test. Word of advice: Don't cram before the test, it honestly wont help. Try to stay mentally occupied in some other manner.

Thanks for listening. I'm feeling a little traumatized right now. :uhoh3:

Yes, I know your pain....I took it last week... Let me just say that EVERYONE that took that wacky test says THE SAME stuff you just said... I did too! I felt like I knew 2 questions.. the rest I was in a daze.... I got soooo many wrong because I remembered the questions (that was torture) and looked some up!!! Do NOT DO THIS... any ways, listen.. It shut of at 75... 9 out of 10 times this is because you passed PASSSED PASSSSSSSSED! I have not heard of AAANNYONE failing yet in my school.. Also, there are 15 pilot questions that don't matter!!!! If you were not doing well it would give you MORE questions to help you pass..... So check your results Fri am so I can congratulate ya!! These 2 days will be sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo awful sweating out the results.... All I did was sleep and cry.... Remember, this isn't like the tests in school.. you can get a whole lot wrong and it doesn't matter because it is focusing on certain right ones!!! Trust me your feelings of disgust are normal and you will be very happy soon!!! Krysta, RN!!!

You have worked so hard for this; I'm so sure you did GREAT!

Positive vibes, girl, positive vibes!

I felt the same way you are feeling when I took my test. I only had 75 questions and spent the next two days a nervous wreck.! Please keep us posted! I am sure you did great!

Oh, this thread is making me happy. I had 75 questions today, and also feel like I didn't get may correct!

Babywannabe 31 check all that apply!!!! I would have fainted. You made it through, be proud. You're in my thoughts.

Hopefully Friday will be one of the best days of our lives.

PS - Someone who works at the center I tested in said that the results are sometimes available in as little as 24 hours. I guess it can't hurt to check. It will only ask for your credit card info if they are there.

Good luck.

Thanks guys, the words do help. nptobee: good luck to you. I hope we both have great outcomes.

What kills me is how the whole thing is set up. We're ultimately judged on our ability to take this test, but the whole thing is so freakin' stressful that it can't logically be assumed that people are doing their best test-taking. Does that make sense?

I'm so happy I have this board to come to. I think my husband is, too. He would rather kill himself than listen to me freak nonstop for the next two days! :selfbonk:

Krysta, Congrats! I know you were well beyond relieved. Webblarsk and Maire..thank you.

Hi Babbynurswannab,

Wishing you the very best. It seems as though every post that I've read where the machine turned off at 75, the person passed. I really can't remember the contrary.

My wishes are for you!

Kris

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure you did great!

PS. 31 all that apply?!? That TOTALLY sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

BEST WISHES to you !!! I feel your pain. I just passed boards 2 days ago and never in my life been so relieved. I had 265 questions and KNEW I would be taking that *#$& thing in 45 days. I have not heard of anyone that has failed with 75 questions. Keep your head up and think positive thoughts, I am sure you did fine (thats therapeutic, right?? lol). Try to stay busy and do something fun. Keep us posted.

ashley :)

Thanks Kris. That's what I'm holding out for.

NearlyRN - I know, I thought I was going to die by the time number 7 rolled around. You can imagine from there....

Ashley, thank you. Congratulations on yours.

I think I'm less freaked out about possibly failing than I am freaked out about the experience. Statistically, however, I am aware that because of my high number of "check all that apply" questions, I have a significant chance of having to take the test again later. If that happens, it happens. Hey! At least I probably wont get 31 of those freakin' questions again and my chances of passing will be higher! :chuckle

nptobee - keep me posted!

Alyssa, stop projecting failure, just wait. (Yeah right). Your reaction is typical of 100% of the people I've heard take the NCLEX. 100% of them say they've failed.

If you want to talk stats, statistically speaking most people with a 4.0 in nursing school pass NCLEX the first time out. In fact statistically, most people pass NCLEX the first time out.

It's torture I know. Good luck to you. :)

I just found out that my friend didn't pass. He took it the day before me and was sooooo confident about how he did.

Hee hee, maybe my freakout level is a good indication. :p
