Took the NCLEX today

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I told myself I would not worry or be anxious...so much for trying! I took the NCLEX this morning. My goodness, I thought it was hard. I got finished in just under 4 hours with all 265 questions! Yes fellow NCLEX students... ALL 265! To read some posts, one would think I failed with that many questions. Other posts would say different! I am not sure what to think about the # of questions. Naturally, I tend to think I failed the exam. I mean after all, why would things go smoothly for me!! At this point, I am refusing to even ponder the Pearson Vue Trick. I will do the quick results when I can (I live in Tennessee) I am assuming I can check Friday morning. That sure is a long time away! So I just thought I would put my thoughts out there. If there is anyone with thoughts...please pass them this way.

First thought to share is to NOT do the PVT (if you feel you are about to break and MUST do it) until at least 24 hours have passed since you walked out of the testing center. Your exam is scored twice in a 24 hour period, and doing the PVT before BOTH sets of scores are done means absolutely nothing. And risks an expensive, irreversible charge.

Personally, I advocate waiting for the QR, which ARE official.

Second thought is the number of questions you got means NOTHING. People pass and people fail with every single number of questions from the minimum to the maximum. Don't let anyone tell you any differently, they'd be lying.

And lastly, pretty much everyone believes they must have failed on their first exam, even though about 90%+ of first-timers do pass. Odds ARE in your favor, so hang in there....and BREATHE :)

Thank you for your kind and encouraging words! It really did give me some calming peace. This is good practice in not worrying about things I cannot change! The test is done. Nothing will change my result...whatever it is! If I didn't pass then I will start studying again. If I did pass then I would need to start the job process! So I will try to enjoy the in between! I'll post my result soon.

Good for you! A rational, reasonable response. Nice :)

Now, about how to kill the next 48 hours: I can tell you that my home never sparkled quite so much before OR after that period of time! I scrubbed my kitchen floor. Cleaned out my cabinets and pantry, tossed old stuff. Made lists of new stuff I needed to replace the old stuff I never used, LOL.

Bathroom tile, tub, shower. GLISTENED.

Point is, put all that nervous energy into doing something useful! Or get out of the house entirely and do something you'd enjoy. Get together with a friend you've been blowing off so you could study, get some lunch. DO NOT ONCE mention the test, or school, or job prospects. NOT ONCE!

And get off this board until you come back and tell us you passed :)

Excellent point! I do believe I will pick back up reading for pleasure. You know, that activity many of us enjoyed doing before reading for school became a real chore sometimes! Or veg out on pinterest. Thanks for the suggestion. I hope to post my result Friday. Until then...

Goodluck to you!! I did not do the PVT right away. I think I waited for 2 days LOL. I am just really nervous at that time.

I did the PVT a couple hours after and then 24 hours after. I told myself even before the test I would not do it (never say never, aha) but I was BEYOND miserable and figured, if I failed...at least I know now and will just move on. Luckily I passed, praise the Lord. I know it will be hard to not think about it but definitely try to go out and think about it less. But I am sure you passed! I am praying for you :D

I passed my first try with all 265. There are ALOT of people who pass with all of the questions!!

I also walked out of the test center crying and 100% sure I failed. I did the pvt, got the good popup, and was still so sure that I failed that I started studying again the next day.

N o one here can tell you if you passed or not, but I can promise you that getting all 265 is NOT an indication that you didn't!

By God's grace...I PASSED! All 265 questions. Apparently it took the computer that long to decide!! Thanks to all who posted on my original thread. It really did give me some peace while waiting on the quick results. And now the real fun begins...working with the title I earned.

CONGRATS RRRNNN! GOOD LUCK WITH JOB HUNTING! I am still looking for a job but with God's help...I know I will find one :D

Well there ya go....all that worry, and now you're done! Congrats :D

when you mention that these test are are scored twice within a 24 hour period, does that include weekends like sat&sun?
