  1. @ jlminnc, LPN Hi! I was able to sent you a PM at last. I hope you can give me more info regarding the position.
  2. I worked LTC before and did NOC fulltime. By 9:00am I am already knocked out. LTC is hard, but i think it also depends on the facility. I do 12hrs shift 3x a week. I took care of 45+ residents and I am the only nurse on the floor in charge of 2 halls. Once I'm done with one hall, I go to the next. Of course there will be interruptions. I also did wound treatments, prepare lab forms, check meds delivered by pharmacy, helped other staff and charting. Like alot of charting!
  3. Goodluck to you!! I did not do the PVT right away. I think I waited for 2 days LOL. I am just really nervous at that time.
  4. @dmavs360 I hope your okay. Just don't give up! You can do it
  5. I also forgot that you need to document that he did it intentionally. I mean just to cover yourself. If you work in LTC everything that you do has to be documented.
  6. If you saw it with you own two eyes that he sat down on the floor, or if someone saw it that he did it purposely then it is not a fall. But If let's say you went to his room and saw him sitting again on the floor and no one knows if he fell or what, then you have to document it.
  7. I've worked in LTC before and was so stressed. I also worked noc shift. To make it short, I gave my notice and resigned. I have no regrets. LTC is hard, but I believed not all facility is that bad. Goodluck to you! :)
  8. I am also a foreign nurse grad. It is better to check with the BON what are the requirements. If you can't see any answers on their website better give them a call. Yes you have to save money for the exams and evaluation of credentials. Like you have to pay 200 in this, 200+ for that, etc etc.. You can do it kabayan! :)
  9. Thanks for the reply @amoLucia. Sorry been very busy and no time to update this topic. :)
  10. @jlminnc, LPN ok I'll post in different threads haha! Thanks
  11. @ jlminnc, LPN I still need to make 11 posts I guess in order for me to do PM's. Haayay!! anyway how about FB? LOL
  12. @jlminnc, LPN I'm glad to see your post here. I'm currently still working on completing all the requirements to submit. I have a lot of questions to ask but I can't post my email in here and can't PM. What can I do so we can talk? :)
  13. Hi Everyone! I received an email from Humana at home thanking me for showing interest as an Independent Care Manager. They also sent me files to read. I'm just thinking if this will be the right job for me. How's the training? Like do you have to travel to attend? I don't know if this is a work at home position or maybe combined? I'm a single mom so flexibility in the schedule will be great! Would really appreciate any inputs regarding this position and how it works. By the way I live in Central Ca.
  14. I'm an LVN working in a SNF. Been working there for a couple of months now and this is my first nursing job. I was trained for 9 days/meetings and after that I was left alone by myself already. I work noc shift with no differentials 12 hrs shift 3X/week. At night I do 2 halls and do med pass 3X each hall and I have 40+ residents. I also do a LOT of documentations plus orders that are not done at am shift. A couple of times I have to do new admits at night! I only have 2 CNAs during my shift. The short stay residents that we have are mostly hard to take care off. Too many fall risk. Most of the time I have to stop what I'm doing because I have to attend to this residents who needs help going to the bathroom etc. I just don't want anymore fall incident during my shift!. But most of the time you can't stop it from happening. A lot of residents has dementia or confuse. Just recently one of the resident had a bad fall. I did what I needed to do and sent this resident to the hospital as fast as I can. As a result I got written up for it because they said my documentation is incomplete. Also that same night there's another fall on the other hall but not as serious as the other one I just mentioned. I talked to the DON and told her she needs to switch me to the other hall where resident's are lot easier to handle. She said she will, but next month. This week I have to go back to the hall I used to work on. I am terrified to go back, and thinking of resigning asap. I don't want to put my license at risk anymore. I don't know what to do. I applied to other jobs already 2 days ago, praying that I would get a new one soon. My question is should I still give my 2 weeks notice? or just say my resignation is effective immediately?.. Please help!! I need your advice on this matter.
