Three months to study, advise please

Hi all!

I finally booked to take the Nclex Rn exam in November 2011 and I need advise on how to tackle this thing. I am in the fortunate position that I have no kids, not working at present and have a very supportive husband. What would YOU study and how, if you were in my position.

I am trying to read the Saunders book, but am struggling to concentrate!

I have qualified as a nurse many moons ago, worked in two other countries as a nurse, but have not worked as one for three years now.

Any advise would be appreciated thanks!

Good start with the saunders book,review meds and do questions in the book, I did 100 questions a day(with dif. sources) and reviewed rationals, I got an nclex app on my iphone so i could do questions whenever i had a few minutes, I did the kaplan live course, the instrutor gave good techniques, by the time of your test try to have 4000 questions done, practice SATA's( I got alot on my nclex) and infection.

Have a moment of reflection about your inability to concentrate. You are aware that if you allow your mind to play tricks on you, you won't be able to get this task done efficiently. You need to focus on your goal. When you find your mind wandering, get up and walk around, take a five minute break, then get back to your work. Best wishes.

Maybe you should reschedule to take it sooner??? I took mine yesterday after graduating 5 weeks ago and I thought it was too long....wish I took it 1 week ago - it is torture waiting to take it and you cant really study for it - I took the Kaplan reveiw course and read the book cover to cover and the only thing that helped me was doing practice questions. We were advised to do 100 questions per day and not to study too much. You made it thru school and you know what you know so maybe 3 months is too long but you have to do whats best for YOU. @sawyer1200- Thanks for the advise, but I need more time to study. I qualified many years ago, not a few months ago like you. I feel I have an advantage in some areas, because of my experience, but I've lost some of my content knowledge, because I did not work in all areas of nursing in the past few years.
