  1. volunteers do that at my hospital
  2. Yes, I am scratching while reading this but the info is very useful! Thank u all!
  3. Leslie sorry for your loss. And it is good to try and put yourself in the families position, bc I was there too when my father was dying. But some familes DO get out of control with questions and demands, it can be overwhelming!
  4. Hi, I work in hospital in the NY area, and we have cases of pts. with bedbugs like every 2 weeks! I am terrified of them or taking them home, sometimes the ER doesnt catch them first and this pt. has 2-3 tranfers to different units befoe they r found. I just want to know: How do u assess for them? are there bites you have to look for? and where? How big are they exactly? and if u can state if your in the NY area! TIA:)
  5. Sounds like a hostile work enviornment where u have no possibe support, yes, I would look for something else b4 u get fired or worse!
  6. I would say: Ask questions. Dont stand around in the hallway 10 deep causing a blockage. Break off into groups of 2, have a buddy system to feel less nervous maybe. Try to look more confident and less scared.
  7. That is straight up crazy!!!
  8. I am a new grad also and this is a hostile workplace, I would not work in a place like this, I would be afraid I might adopt these habits.
  9. I know someone who took it 10 times and finally passed on the 10th try! 10 times!!! at $200 a pop! thats a $1000! not to mention 4 years out of nursing school, married with 5 kids and 2 with medical issues! But she said she wasnt gonna let the devil beat her down( that is what she said exactly) and when she finally passed it was like Mardi Gras in that house, it was like wow! so If she can do, I know anybody can do it!
  10. Just got the word I passed!!!:yeah:
  11. HI! Good start with the saunders book, review meds and do questions in the book, I did 100 questions a day(with dif. sources) and reviewed rationals, I got an nclex app on my iphone so i could do questions whenever i had a few minutes, I did the kaplan live course, the instrutor gave good techniques, by the time of your test try to have 4000 questions done, practice SATA's( I got alot on my nclex) and infection. Good luck and HTH!
  12. Did u test at Lake sucess? thats where I tested, someone told me that that place gives alot of SATA's but I didnt want to believe that because its a randomized test, a testing center cannot give anything,so I went there anyway, but I dont know what to think now, but that was a crazy amount of SATA's.
  13. Thanks! I did kaplan course, did 100 qbanks a day, reviewed saunders 4th ed esp cardiac and meds, endocrine and meds and maternity and meds chapters, saunders cd, I also had an nclex flashcards app on my phone that i would do constantly, and that random facts thread helped alot! all together I did about 4000 questions, but u must review content too and that saunders book was the best!
  14. I took the test today, don't know for sure if I passed but I got the good pop-up on the PVT. The day before my test I was freaking out also and my friends told me not to study, but my anxiety went down after I went over a few facts until like 6:00 pm, and then I relaxed for the rest of the day. Do what u feel will relax u,read a book, watch a movie or go over a few facts but dont go crazy! HTH and Good Luck!
