  1. Thank you again for the advice! I truly appreciate it!
  2. I would like to pursue a degree as a Doctorate Nurse Practitioner. However, my main goal is to fully establish myself as a floor nurse. I want to emphasize that I am interested in remaining at the facility in which I am applying (provided I get hired) as a Nurse Practitioner as well. The facility has an amazing reputation, one in which I can see myself at for many years to come. I want to make it known that I am not applying for a position in which I wish to remain for just a few short years. Does bringing up advancement in education in future years sound like I will be a promising employee to a team of HR recruiters and nurse managers?
  3. Thank you SO much. I hope that the panel understands that it may be a bit intimidating having that many people in with me. Good response on the 'where do you see yourself in 5 years'. I appreciate the tips!
  4. Hello everyone! I am a new Registered Nurse and have an upcoming panel interview in a few days. I have 8 potential managers that I am interviewing with. I have had one panel interview with just a couple of people on the panel in which I was unsuccessful. It was prior to my boards and I believe that my nerves got the best of me. It started out with my most dreaded question...tell me about yourself! Unfortunately, I am uncomfortable talking about myself so I appear timid. However, in the clinical field I am very confident. I have been a CNA for almost 10 years. Does anyone have any questions that they had while interviewing and/or that maybe you have asked potential new nurse employees? I am very interested in the hospital that I am interviewing with and do not want to come across as nervous and therefore flub my words. Thank you in advance.
  5. I passed NCLEX!! Thank you SO very much for the prayers! I was out in less than an hour! What a relief to have passed. Thank you again for the encouragement. :)
  6. Yea my anxiety lessoned as I was taking the exam. I prayed before and after every question though, I am sure. My test anxiety in the past has been awful for me, often resulting in my failing exams. However, with NCLEX I knew that I had to not allow myself to get worked up. When you approach difficult questions, re read it multiple times so you are clear that it makes sense to you and that you are reading it correctly. If you come to a point in your exam where you are so anxious, you think it's inhibiting you from answering correctly, GET UP, go take a quick walk, eat a small snack. Remember you are the only one taking the exam, and the only one that is going to claim your nursing license. Don't be concerned with anyone else around you but yourself. I will say a prayer for you!! You got this!! I am a Christian, and my verse I said in my head over and over was Phillipians 4:13 'I can do ALL things through Christ which strengtheneth ME'!!! :)
  7. Hi all! I just graduated with my BSN and am interested in pursuing grad school for my DNP. Has anyone taken the new GRE? I would like to know if anyone has any pointers on how to prepare for it? Also, anyone in the DNP program at University of Florida? Wondering what the average acceptance GPA is? Thanks in advance! :)
  8. I have the same anxiety before and during exams. You aren't alone! I hated to think I was made to stay in the chair and not able to leave or something. I just took NCLEX last week and passed. I ate the same food for like 3 days before my exam so my stomach would cooperate. I also scheduled my exam for the afternoon, that way I took the morning to go to the gym and clear my head, and not be rushed. Amazingly, you are much calmer than you think. For me, I think I was because I had a LOT of prayers and also knew I wanted to pass my first time and I was not going to let my anxiety keep me from it. I also packed a lunch box with snacks, ibuprofen, water, etc and kept it in the locker. I knew that if I had to get up, I could. I used the headphones as well which blocked out a lot of noise. Just breathe, read each question more than once. When is your exam? I will keep you in my prayers!
  9. Found out that I passed NCLEX! Yay! So happy. For those of you still studying, keep on pressing forward. Your studying will pay off too. The computer shut off for me at 75 questions. I was out in about an hour! How crazy! Thank you very much for the words of encouragement and prayers. Every prayer was felt and appreciated.
  10. Thank you for the congrats!
  11. I did do the live review class because my school offered it. I did not really find it as helpful as the actual at home tests though. I am the type of person that has to learn by doing things though. As far as the readiness test, my score was 58%. I took that two months before I sat for NCLEX though so it wasn't quite as accurate since I had such a lapse. Just keep studying and doing questions. That is what I think helped me the most. :) Studying and LOTS of prayer!
  12. I passed my NCLEX!!! So excited! Here is what I did for those who are preparing. Kaplan. EVERY Q bank question and Q trainers. I took notes and read ALL the rationales while I was preping for my exam. My average for Q bank was 57% and my Qtrainers ranged from 56% to 68%. I did like the book suggested and took all the Q bank questions in testing mode. I was very nervous on exam day, almost changed my date because In the beginning of my studying I had a few 46% on some tests. The computer shut off for me at 75 questions. I am not an honor student. Graduated with a 3.20. For those of you that may feel discouraged, keep pressing on. I studied for about 12 consecutive days. You can do it too!!!
  13. Finished the NCLEX with 75 questions. Still waiting for results. The suspense is crazy! I used Kaplan. Did all Q Bank and Q trainers, and took notes while testing. Thank you for those that prayed and gave words of encouragement. It truly was appreciated. Now, I just have to keep biting my nails til I find out!
  14. Thank you, thank you for your prayers. Also, did anyone take the exam Friday and find out the next day? Many of my classmates that have taken it, find out the next day, however, with tomorrow being Saturday, I am not sure. ?? Thanks again for prayers and support.
  15. Taking my NCLEX this afternoon!! Nervous. Please fellow nurses/students keep those in mind (and prayer) taking it today. The favor will be returned and appreciated!
