Suzannes Plan?

I Know That Suzannes Plan Is Based Off The Book Of Saunders But All Throughout School I Was Told Not To Study Saunders, Is It Possible To Do Her Plan With A Lippincotts Book And Cd? Or Do You Just Suggest Saunders. I Failed Pn Once Already So Im Having A Hard Time Even Starting To Study... Any Suggestions

Get the Saunders book. There is no perfect NCLEX study guide, but Saunders offers the advantage of a structured, organized review of the content.

I would say yes it is too old, if you can afford to invest in the latest edition

Honestly, no offense to anyone, but I feel that the saunders book is too detailed. It's this huge huge book of detail after detail that it can be extremely overwhelming. I don't know how people pass with that book, but a lot of people do. But it is a chance that I was definitely not willing to take. I own the book, and it was great during school, but not for the nclex-rn

If you can take a kaplan course, then you should do it. Kaplan is great, it gives you the structure, and even a location where you can go and study.

thats exactly what i heard the whole time while i was in school so i kept buying only lippincotts, but then i figured, maybe thats what i needed to pass was something in more detail. But i think im gonna take your final word and not study that one. Would you happen to have any more info on that kaplan course if its also for LVN. Thank you.

I am of the opinion , having done the Kaplan complete and right now doing Suzanne's plan..that while Kaplan helps you with strategies .and decisions while answering ..It is the detail in Saunder's which helps one really analyze or rationalize a answer.. just my two cents!!!! also I honestly feel that the Kaplan course book does not give all the topics clearly enough... but then each of us have to decide what works best for us...meanwhile ..I got the 3rd edn of saunders from the public library...then my dH... decided to give me the latest ..i.e the 4th ed as a gift and it came today.. :yeah:woohoo!!!! it looks great... lots of pictures etc.. will go through and let you guys know the differences...from previous edn's..

I looked at Saunder's and the book I own side by side (Comprehensive Review NCLEX-PN Reviews and Rationales by Mary Hogan), and they are extremely similar in review content and style of questions.

I don't think it would hurt to have Saunders, as I think it's important to review all different type of books. I have a few on hand, and they are all good. Hopefully, they will help me pass. :)

saunders is great to quick look up...it is detail but you dont have to study everything in detail...it is a must have book if you are taking nclex...because if you practice questions from other books and have trouble, you can quickly get details on saunders, the questions are all content review to brush up what you've been studying for last 4 yrs or 2 yrs. i admit it is easy and does not expose to critical thinking, it is straight knowledge type questions...but you have to have knowledge to critically thinking (60%) + strategies (40%) that other books like kaplan, alice stein offer.

i used saunders and when i took my test for the 2nd time, i was ohhh sooo glad that i did. i really think saunders prepared me and i was confident i passed when i left.. just my thoughts.

You will get best results if you just stick to one source of information...

My main studies came from kaplan, but I did also do questions from the alice stein book, I had the flashcard book and used it in the bathroom, and did the kaplan strategies book.... and I did read the HESI book once to study the medsurg part because that was my weakest area.

I read the HESI book once, and it was OK (just reviewed what was already in the Kaplan course book), I did listen to the HELEN FEUER review in the car also for content... did the feuer help?? I passed, but I can't say that I got any straight up content questions on the test.

My main focus was kaplan, and to me kaplan was the best program.
