Are Saunders questions similar to NCLEX?

Hey everyone! I'm currently reviewing from the saunders book (the yellow one) and they seem much easier to me than the questions offered by Kaplan bank.

For the people who used the Saunders and passed NCLEX, did you feel it was similar to the NCLEX exam?

I'm currently using Saunders and would like the answer to this question as well. Questions do seem a bit easy, or maybe we're just SMART! :-)

I took NCLEX yesterday and had 75 questions, and while I don't know for sure I passed, I got the good pop-up. I think that Saunders questions are definitely easier than NCLEX, and Kaplan's were way more similar to what you'll see with NCLEX.

Saunders Q I thought were way easier than Kaplans...& the NCLEX style Q are very similar to kaplan. I used Saunders for content mostly. I didn't buy the big Q&A book

Thank you for the responses!

Also, how many hours a day did you guys study and for how long? My brain works in such a way that I can't seem to do more than 125 questions a day and I have to break that up into sections.

I started studying when I scheduled on May 31st and took mine yesterday. There were a few days that I didn't really study at all because of work or just feeling burned out. I studied anywhere from an hour or two a day, to there was one day when I ended up staying at Panera for 7 hours.

Thanks for the response, zip zip! I take my exam on July 1st which is 3 weeks from when I started. I never feel confident because "good" scores to me should be in the 80% and 90% and I'm definitely not seeing that when I do Kaplan or Hurst. lol Saunders yes. But not the other two.

My highest percentage with Hurst was 82% and I got a 75% on the 265 practice test in the back of the Kaplan strategies book. I didn't have the Kaplan qbank or anything.

use kaplan, they are much harder than saunders and definitely on par with NCLEX questions.

Saunders is 'easier' because its testing mainly on content (lower level, below pass level questions) based whereas the Kaplans are the higher level questions (analysis and application).

I found the NCLEX to mirror the Kaplan qtrainers. Even the format and screen set up and colors were exactly the same. After a few questions I forgot it was the NCLEX and was thinking/feeling like I was taking a Kaplan test :)

I have to agree with the many others in this thread in saying that the Saunders questions just are not difficult enough to compare to the NCLEX. As much as I dislike shilling for a company, Kaplan really does stand out to me as the best NCLEX preparation money can buy.

To give you some empirical evidence supporting the difficulty gap between the two, I averaged ~90% on all the Saunders questions I took from the book and the CD that came with the book. I averaged ~76% on all the Kaplan questions I took (qtrainers). Also, I could consistently get through 100+ Saunders questions in 1 hour, but only about 80+ Kaplan questions in the same amount of time.

When you say Kaplan questions are on par with NCLEX-RN, are you guys talking about the Kaplan question on the NCLEX-RN Strategies, Practice, And Review book and CD-Rom?

Thanks for your replies.
