Are Saunders questions similar to NCLEX?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Hey everyone! I'm currently reviewing from the saunders book (the yellow one) and they seem much easier to me than the questions offered by Kaplan bank.

For the people who used the Saunders and passed NCLEX, did you feel it was similar to the NCLEX exam?

I am also on the app bandwagon. I have a Galaxy s3 and I use NCLEX Mastery. It works great! sooooooo much better than doing practice questions in a text book. Im glad you mentioned that danielle5454, I thought I was one of the only people :)

I really like the Saunder's book but I do feel that Kaplan was more similar to NCLEX. I feel like questions I practiced with Kaplan were on my boards.

I've used Saunders. . .would agree that the questions are easier than those found in other resources. If you're on a budget, try the "Evolve Resources for HESI Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN Examination, 3rd Edition" (ISBN: 9781437725360). I found those questions much tougher than the Saunders book questions. I scored 1091 on the HESI exit exam and mostly did questions from this online resource to prepare.

Also, I just picked up the Silvestri/Mojica "Strategies for Alternate Item Formats on the NCLEX-RN Exam" book (ISBN 9781416038412) and it's pretty tough (good if you struggle with select all that apply, rank order and other meanie question types). 280 questions, but I figure it won't take a lot of my time and will help me feel more confident on these types of questions!

Did ONLY Saunders! Passed in 75 q. Why? Cause I just finished nursing school and learned content. All this talk about what to study? You just studied every day for the past few years. Saunders will get you there......good luck.

I used Saunders for nclex and I passed June 14. A & P is a big part of nursing and Saunders reinforced my knowledge. I did every question in the book and about 3000 questions on the cd, reviewed labs, and briefly glanced at the study guide floating on this website.

In response to a private message (that didn't go through when I tried to reply), I purchased my NCLEX 4000 at Barnes and Nobel (can I say that here?) In case that gets edited, I'll say it generically also- you can get it online from the major bookstores. You can also get it from the publisher. If you have trouble with it working on your computer (as I did) simply follow the instructions included. Their IT department will give you a 'patch' code. Then, it worked just fine. I have both Mac and PC computers at home. I highly recommend it. It's welll known.

Good luck!

I suggest over preparing so you have a broad base of knowledge because they will go deeper and deeper into certain areas.

Also, go to the CDC website and look at their list of disease and precautions needed. Straight from the horses mouth! Also, their instructions for donning a protective wear. (I found three different versions in the nursing study info on how to take the stuff off!)

And, finally, listen to all those horrible tv commercials that advertise drugs (the ones that tell all the side effects) because that info is VERY thorough! And somehow it sticks in your head (because the laundry list of side effects is insane!!). And I had THREE of those Rx's on my test!

AND!!! On test day, wear your head phones that they give you to block out sound! I had someone in my testing period who compulsively cleared her throat!!

It's the little things :)

In so nervous. Taking exam soon. I'm using hurst. Nclex 4000 and pda and exam cram book. Have anyone used exam cram book? Did it help? Pray for me please. My second time. Ugh.

I will pray for you Kbetty. Relax. Trust in Him.

saunders?? i must say, it's highly recommended,., took my exam last march 15,2014 and tbh i only relied on that book for the "concept" itself,. and studied kaplan just to know the strategies on how to answer 2 days prior to my scheduled appointment,. and happy to say indeed it helped me a lot cause i passed at 75 :D best of luck guys.. keep on praying!!

Saunders did help me a lot as well. I passed my nclex exam on March 10th. I'm happy. But I also used PDA, Ncelx 4000 helped me as well, listened to hurst lectures and read the book. I did about 6000 questions within a month an half. Studied every day 8 hours + and prayed a lot. I'm happy.
