Retake nclex rn CA BON

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I'm an international nurse. I took NCLEX-RN on 5th of June and failed the test. I reapplied after 45 days and send the application form with an appropriate fee. It's been already 4 months and I've received anything from the board. How long is there processing time to reevaluate the document? Can I register at pearsonvue before I receive new eligible letter from board or do I have to wait before I register?

I need help.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

just register again with pearsonvue and they should send you a new ATT

Pearson will send you a ATT much faster than the board which is notoriously and horrifically slow.

I've read some other posts that some who previously qualified when failed the test, reassessed and told they no longer meet the requirements. I'm scared now since I've not heard anything from the board for so long. What if I register at Pearson and later receive I'm not eligible to take the test. I tried calling board since last month but every time busy tone. Email, fax but no response. What should I do now? What is the best way to reach them?

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

Are you an internationally educated nurse? Patience after the holidays may help

Yes, I am. Hope for the positive response. Fingers crossed.

Did you do your clinicals the same semester as the theory?

Which state? When did you register with the state?

Yes, it was in the same semester.

I register California Board of nursing. I was eligible in 2012. Took my NCLEX on June 2014. Took a time as I was pursing master degree in public health as well. I reapplied in August. When I applied first time, the board send me an eligibility letter within 2 months but this time it's already 4 months and still no response.

Dang. You might, just might get a bad reply from the BON. You should just call them up, to see what's happening. As you well know for IENs, hopefully it doesn't happen to you, like how it happened to a few Filipino applicants I've seen here on AllNurses.

Some applied, got approved to take between 2011 and 2012, they took it, failed, reapplied for a 2nd take, and got hit with the concurrency issue.

The worst one I saw was a guy who applied, passed the NCLEX-RN, then got a job as an RN, and the CA-BRN sent him a letter saying they made a mistake and are revoking his license due to the concurrency issue. (Brutal, but can't fight it, BRN can revoke if they feel like it)
