Please don't judge....it's been 13 years since graduated RN and debating the NCLEX

Nursing Students NCLEX

I am going to make a long story short. I graduated in 1999 with my LPN and passed boards on 1st try. I immediately started RN school and graduated in 2001. I have taken the NCLEX RN 3-4 times and have failed. On the paper they sent me in the mail I was almost on the line of passing and there was no particular area I needed help in. I worked as an LPN until 2008. Married in 2004, child in 2006 and twins in 2008. I then quit work to raise my kids. I am now and am haunted on a regular basis about the fact that I haven't passed my boards. It eats at me and I feel like a FAILURE!!!!!!! A friend just graduated RN and passed her boards and let me take one of the ATI comprehensive tests, not the predictor and I got 77%. I have no idea how to prepare or if I should even persue the dream of becoming an RN. I mean afterall that is all that is between me and my RN is a freaking test. Does anyone have any insight on the 77% or any advice at all???????????????

THANKS!!!

I graduated from a four year undergrad with a BSN 25 years ago -yes I said it 25 years ago!! I did not renew my RN, back then it went in mail and I got married had kids and moved three times- missed the renewal. I called my state and they said sorry retake 20 years later, I quit my job and retook the test today!!!!! did the PV trick and I think I passed!

Sanders review book-web site

Exam Cram book

Nclex 3500

delegation questions

and lots and lots of questions 200 a day

I studied for 8 hours a day for 3 months

horrible but now I did it. When I called my state to find out how to even sign up for the test the guy who answered the phone said "you can do this you are older and will know how to study smart" He helped me with that comment!!!

YOU CAN DO IT!!!

pray hard and God will grant you anything!!!

That's awesome!

In the same boat as you. I'm starting to study using Saunders and LaCharity.

You can do it bsngrad02!!! the long hours of studying will pay off- stick to your plan adn study questions everyday- at least 75- you will see a pattern. Day of test you will be ok- because it is all in your brain! Good Luck

I passed!!!! Practice practice practice!!! I used several iPad apps and they were very helpful! You can do it!!!

That is so AWESOME! How many questions did you have? What apps did you use? I don't have an ipad but maybe I could find them on my laptop. Did you think it was harder than you expected? CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!

@APerry5675: congrats! you deserve it! :)

posts here are very inspiring. count me in, i graduated 8 years ago and it seems like im having a hard time focusing now when im reading. thanks for sharing your experiences i feel inspired now and i will do my best next time. i actually took the NCLEX-RN last march 15 (i know in my heart that i didnt prepare and study well) but got the cc page at pearson vue trick so now even if i havent receive the official result (california BON) i accepted it and im not expecting to pass. right now im studying again. my review materials are SAUNDERS comprehensive and saunders q&a, kaplan book 2012-2013. i plan to take it again by june or july 2013. i hope to pass this time. GOODLUCK to all of us!

@helpmepass: hi, i just wanna ask when are you planning to take NCLEX-RN? thanks in advance :)

I am a stay at home mom and since summer is right around the corner, I know that I won't have anytime to myself to study. I would like to start studying now, but full force in August and hope to take before the end of the year. Are you taking yours soon?

Specializes in Maternal Newborn.

Study and go for it!!

@helpmepass: i'm also a wife, i dont have kids but i have 2 jobs (stressful). im planning to take it between july or august coz im still waiting for the official results. are you also california BON? hope we can study together? :)

I used my iPhone actually. The apps I used was ATI app, and NCLEX QB, I really like the QB one because it has like 250+ alternative format questions. I am not a sit down and read kind of study-er so doing the questions and reading the rationales was mainly what I did and if there was anything I needed more info on I used Saunders. NCSBN is great also and not so expensive! Main thing was a lot of prayer for concentration and focus and really wanting it BAD!!! I feel on top of the world and you guys can too!! Best of Luck to you all!!!

One more thing, the test was very hard I thought. I just used process of elimination. I really thought I failed, called everyone and told them I did!! I cried on the way there and as soon as I walked out the door I lost it knowing I had failed. I did 101 questions and couldn't remember one question on the test, then started thinking about things and remembering some of them. I had 2 EKG questions, several med questions, a lot of priority and delegation, like 10 or 12 SATA, and 2 drag and drop, no calculations, 1 exhibit, 1 hot spot. It took me 3 hours but that was more praying than answering questions!
