NCLEX__ran out of time??

It didn't happen to me, but what they do is take your last 60 questions. If they are all above the passing mark then your friend will pass, but if just one is below then he/she will not. That doesn't mean they could not get any wrong, but it depends where they were on question 160. Hope this helps.

This is the explanation for passing or failing NCLEX. This explanation includes the "last 60 rule" as applied to either passing or failing NCLEX. To pass, when you've runn out of time your competence level has to be above the passing standard for the last 60 questions answered on the NCLEX.

You will pass the NCLEX exam in the following situations:

you answer at least the minimum number of questions, within the time allowed, and achieve a competence measure significantly above the passing standard; or

you answer the maximum number of questions, within the time allowed, and achieve a final competence measure above the passing standard (even if not significantly above); or

you answer at least the minimum number of questions, but not the maximum, using all of the time allowed, and have a competence measure above the passing standard consistently for all of the last 60 questions. Not all of the last 60 items need to be answered correctly, but the competence estimate must remain above the passing standard after each of the last 60 items answered.

You will not pass the NCLEX exam in the following situations:

you answer at least the minimum number of questions, within the time allowed, and achieve a competence measure significantly below the passing standard; or

you answer the maximum number of questions, within the time allowed, and achieve a final competence measure below the passing standard (even if not significantly below); or

you answer at least the minimum number of questions, but not the maximum, using all of the time allowed, and have a competence measure that has not been above the passing standard for all of the last 60 questions.

What I mean is if she was on 220 when she ran out of time, they will look at questions 160-220. To pass, she does NOT have to get them all right. The NCLEX is adaptive and there is a predetermined "passing" level. Think of a roller coaster. Where you get on the rollercoaster, we will say is the passing level. If you get a question right you go up and one wrong you go down. To put it in perspective, in the last 60 questions, as long as she got enough right to keep her from going below the passing standard (where we get on the roller coaster) then she will pass. However, in the last 60 if she did go below the passing standard, even once then it is viewed as failing the NCLEX.

Wow, I can't even imagine what she is going through. Just give her the support that she needs, and I hope things work out for the best!!

Well....she PASSED!! So that goes to show that even if you run out of time you can still make it!! I am happy for her.....now I just need to take it and pass on 7/11. I am freaking out....
