NCLEX-RN "select all that apply"

Nursing Students NCLEX

I took the NCLEX-RN 2-4-12. I had at least 40% that were "select all that apply". I had a total of 75 questions and it took me 1 hour 10 minutes. I was of course panicking because select all that apply are my absolute weakness! At one point I had 5 in a row. The whole time I kept thinking that i had to be failing! I immediately emailed my Kaplan instructor and she said those are considered harder level questions. She said that it was a good sign that I kept getting those type of questions. Found out the next day that I passed. So if you are in this situation, do not panic like I did!

I did over 1500 Kaplan questions and missed most of the select all that apply questions! I thought that i for sure failed NCLEX! Even after doing the Pearson clue trick and getting the good message, I felt that there was no way I could pass with so many select all questions! If you see a lot of select all questions stay positive during the test and after! Hope this helps!!

I head that the SATA questions were a bit "easier" on the actual NCLEX than on practice questions. What is your opinion on that??

Absolutely! SATA are much easier on NCLEX than the Kaplan ones. I'm glad they made the Kaplan ones so hard, because on NCLEX I was thinking, "Of course not!" or "Definitely!" whereas on the practice ones from Kaplan I always thought "I don't know!"

Just took NCLEX-RN yesterday, I kept a tally of how many SATA questions I received...I had 30! And then I also had 6 drag and drop, 1 cardiac rhythm (which was also SATA), and then 1 picture out of 75 questions. When the test shut off at 75 I was in a way relieved (since I had that many SATA), but then I was like crap if I failed I didn't have a chance to even prove myself with that many SATA!! :banghead: So now I am playing the waiting game...I would do the PVT, but I am too nervous to do it and see the CC page (I took nclex before and was near passing standard & the PVT killed my mood). Hopefully I passed! Because it would be torture to get 30 SATA questions again!

I think we had the exact same test. I took mine Monday and passed in 75, so it looks good for you. The only thing I used my white board for was to tally my questions.

I had the same situation! I was sure that I failed because it was so hard. SATA questions were my ultimate weakness during nursing school. This helped a lot relieve my anxiety of waiting! Thank you!

Just got my results.... I PASSED!!!!!!!! :D I am so happy! i guess getting that many alternative format type questions was a good sign!!! woohoo!

I just took the NCLEX last week and passed at 75 questions with 75% of my test being SATA. I've heard that if you get a lot of SATA or prioritization questions you are doing well. I self-studied with a Kaplan and Saunders test prep book and thought the kaplan questions were harder than the NCLEX questions and saunders was about at the same level.

I should know about having a lot of SATA. I'm pretty sure I may have topped the charts with how many I got...60 of my 75 were SATA. While all my friends were saying how the nclex wasn't that bad (as they had mainly prioritization questions), I was devastated because I had never taken a test that was so impossibly hard. So if anyone knows about this topic, it's me. The good news though is that despite guessing on almost everyone of my 60 SATA, I just found out that I passed!!!!! Now I only wish I could see where I was in regards to the passing line.

Hello dear

u prepared from saunders review book and kaplan plan?? Was it sufficient and in how much time you devoted for kaplan plan? I am having my exam within 2 months and i am doing saunders but i am confused that will i be able to complete kaplan plan?? Please help me

thankyou

I just took the NCLEX as well and of the 75 questions I was given, only 3 were select all that apply (I counted). I think that its pretty random so we can't count on the percents to stay the same for everyone. I passed the first time!!:)

This is an old old thread with some wrong information. The quantity of any format type doesn't mean anything at all. SATA are not considered higher level or passing questions, they are just a format type that most people don't like, but no different when it comes to what it means. Means nothing, like having multiple choice or drag and drop, med calculations or not. Nothing at all.

Some people get tons of them some people get hardly any (like you). Having a minimum number of questions given is the best indicator of how you did, honestly. Either you nailed it or bombed it. Were you a really good student, did well on tests, had a good handle on the practice NCLEX exams you took? Then it's probable you passed. If you answered NO to these questions, it's probable you failed. Which one do you think you are? :)
