Nclex in Illinois

I didn't know that IL residents are required to take courses again when the 3yr application process lapse.

What I know is, when the 3 years is up, you apply again to Continental Testing Services with the $91 app fee, 4 page application form, finger print.

This is very much true schnookimz. Illinois sucks when it comes to taking NCLEX within a period of time. What happened to me was i took a year off to volunteer, then took my Nclex-rn and failed first time....few months later i was involved in a car jacking and required surgery and a year of rehab. by the time i was planning to take my 2nd exam, they told me to go back to Nursing School, was not allowed to take the Illinois Exam. Was in tears for few days. Don't have the time, money to go through nursing school again. Then I contacted NY Boards where you can take the exam without any limits and restriction. They advice me to take the NY boards and apply for Illinois endorsement or reciprocity. That's what i'm going to do.

I'm coming up on my 3 years after I graduated, and in Illinois you are supposed to take 2 years of school again if you didn't pass it. Can I just take my test in a state that doesn't have these requirements and transfer my license to Illinois? I saw this post on here, but wasn't sure if it was in fact true. You can retake in Iowa, California or new york
