NCLEX 4000 scores

When I took the boards, my practice test scores were 65-68%. I did not use NCLEX 4000, but I do have a few suggestions:

1. Beat in mind the focus of the NCLEX : the purpose is to test competence in four key areas of being a licensed nurse: Safe, effective care; Health Promotion and Maintenance: psychosocial integrity, and physiologic integrity.

Focus on WHAT the question is asking you...is it safe effective care? Health promotion? and so on.

2. Review ALL questions and rationales, what are the rationales you are having difficult with??? Review sources when you are stuck on a particular rationale, including the NCLEX subject.

3. If needed, add an additional source. LaCharity is good for strategies on answering questions effectively for the NCLEX as well. If you are weak in pharmacology, I suggest Pharm Phlash cards. Great reference to break down medications ANY time.

4. If you need to reschedule, don't hesitate if you need to, as long as the studying time is NOT over the two month mark...most educators and NCSBN members suggest studying no longer than 2 months.

The idea of a CAT exam is that at any single point of an exam you're likely to miss the question or get it right. It may be a different difficulty level, but at the end you should end up with approximately 50% questions answered wrong. The key is what difficulty level you'll get on the exam. :) Your low score looks OK as long as you review all your answers no matter how you answer them and read the rationales.
