Just took the NCLEX for my 3rd & hopefully last time!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

On May 20th I took the NCLEX exam AGAIN...for the 3rd time & let me just say I left the place crying. I felt horrible about it & that it was the worst yet. The first two times were pretty similar exams but of course I didn't pass....but according to the paper they send with your non-passing papers I did improve in a couple of areas so that made me a tad better.

But along comes my 3rd time & man I tell ya I was all hyped esp. being prepared for math, yet when I get one or two I freak out. I did great while in nursing school & love Math but this dang exam I tell ya makes me feel like I'm in grade school again. I just don't know what to do if I don't pass this next time. I haven't been working for 4 months since I had to turn in my IP license since I didn't pass the first time. So, living off my credit cards isn't exactly the best emotional lifter ya know!

I don't know, I don't know why I'm writing this now, maybe I'm just hoping....no praying I passed so I can get back to the job I miss and love so much. I had a blast the 3 months I worked with my IP license. Now I feel like I'm loosing my skills & hope to get back into the swing of things soon!!

Any advice on what to do next or how to approach the next exam if God forbid there has to be another one?

Thanks, Struggling in San Diego!! :crying2:

what kinds of questions did you recieve. Not specific questions but categories of questions. for example, select all that apply, priority, delegation, content based etc.

I took mine this morning as well and I think I failed too. It sucks to live off credit (im in the same boat) We are going to be nurses one way or another though. I'll take it 7 times if need be, we will do it sooner or later!

Thank you everyone who replied to my quest for some kind of hope or answer!!! Well.............guess what??? I checked this morning at 8am and I saw my name FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep.....I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!! 3rd time but hey I guess they really do say your 3rd time is the charm!!! So, needless to say I've been in a fog all day, on the phone, crying...not crying...happy...in shock and just a HUGE HUGE relief is off my shoulders.........as for the exam anyway!!!! I can't begin to express how excited & happy I am that I am FINALLY going to be a NURSE and have the life I always wanted.

I can provide for me & my son..........who happens to be my 4 yr old Schnauzer named Hawkeye, lol lol lol!!! At least people think he's my son since he's such a mama's boy!! lol lol Either way, I am responsible for me in every sense of the word and am proud to say that!!!!!

For those who worry and are afraid I can feel your pain and in being scared.....but PLEASE PLEASE have the faith and it will happen!!! To me the 3rd exam was sooooo much harder than the first 2 so I'm looking at it now that I must have finally got the groove to the right answers and took my time. 1st exam was 160 questions, 2nd exam was 265 with all 6 hours and 3rd time was 265 questions 5.5 hours. So, don't let the number game mess ya up!!!!

I used the Sanders 3rd Ed CD & the Lippincott 9th Ed CD and made sure I understood why the answers were the answers. To be honest I did less than 1000 questions but I always narrowed it down to the 2 correct ones and was finally able to figure and think about how to choose the best of the 2. So, I'm not saying you can't answer more or what have you but do what works for you. But having taken the exam 2 times already I was more familiar with what they were really wanting you to know & think about.

So, again ALWAYS go with your ABC's....then safety!!! Well, not always but 99.9% it's your ABC's & safety. Obviously if there is no ABC's you have to go from there. So, really understand why the correct answer is the correct one, then it makes it easier or less confusing as to why and as Kaplan says...........NCLEX pictures the exam as if the world of nursing is perfect as far as the exam anyway. A huge down fall for me too was already working in the medical field...9 yrs as a CNA and a few months as a nurse with an IP license, so reality vs the exam was what messed me up the at the first exam I think. Ok ok enough of a book already, sorry!!!! I'm just so happy & want you all to know Ive been where you are and it stinks but you will prevail and have the BEST feeling in the world so DON'T give up!!!!!!!!!

Best of luck to you all!!!!!! Thank you for your kind words and uplifts!!

:>) Happy & Excited in San Diego :yeah: :nurse:
