I've failed NCLEX-RN 3 times and need advice

I graduated in 2011 and have tried everything I know to study. I've used Kaplan, Saunders, ATI books, hurst review with no success. I went back to my school for help but they were not of any help. I have gone to the ATI website and see that they have a via email tutor series where you will have daily assignments but I don't know if it's worth the $300 for the study session. I am at a loss I'm almost to the point of giving up. I have 2 young children and cannot even get a tech job because I'm over qualified. Any and all advice would greatly be appreciated.

I understand that you are scare, I was too. It was a beautiful and passionate experience for me. However, it was not a walk in the park. All the best to you. Nursing school is supposed to be harsh. So when you face other obstacles they become a joke

Thanks :) I hope I can sleep tonight because I'm super anxious. I've heard from about 90% of people that nursing school will humble me. I'm ready for the ride.

Keep on trying & don't lose hope. I've seen many amazing RNs who have taken the NCLEX multiple times. You may need to change your study habits. If something hasn't worked for you before, it may not work again.

I know this sounds harsh, but I, too have seen many amazing RNs who have taken the NCLEX multiple times. And most of them are amazingly BAD. I have only seen one who was actually good at her job, and she had decided to become a unit secretary instead of a nurse.

The OP's knowledge of medical terminology and drug names may serve her well as a unit secretary, a transcriptionist or in the field of insurance, to name a few fields. Unless she takes a refresher course or repeats some of her nursing classes, however, I would not encourage her to continue taking the NCLEX.

Compassion! Empathy! Understanding! Loving! Encouragement! Ect, Ect, Ect, That's what NURSING is about people.

Critical thinking, rapid and skilled assessments, understanding of complex protocols, drug calculations, knowledge of drug interactions. That's what nursing is about. Compassion, empathy, understanding and encouragement are absolutely wonderful, but I'd much rather have a nurse who knows what's going on.

You can have ALLL the compassion in the world...if one has ZERO competence, that does the pt more HARM than GOOD.

Competence is FIRST, compassion is a far tie in this business . :blink:

OP, I would suggest NCSBN 8 wk course, eval for anxiety, and if you get licensed, a refresher course.

I sincerely hope you are able to overcome your challenge and grow successfully in whatever choice you decide.
