Is there a difference in Lacharity Book's PN vs. RN

I took the PN test in '08 and the RN in '09. I used Lacharity for the RN exam and I don't recommend it for the NCLEX-PN. I know the lines between LPN and RN get blurred on the job but the NCLEX questions will never deviate from the scope of practice. The book focuses on scope of practice for the RN, not the LPN. If you study from it you might answer a question inappropriately on the NCLEX-PN. On the NCLEX-PN there are questions where both actions are correct but one is outside of the scope of practice for an LPN so the true correct answer is to inform the RN.

If you are looking for a good study guide for NCLEX-PN Saunders NCLEX-PN is really good. I used the 3rd edition but they have a 4th one now. Good luck on the test.

I disagree. I used the LaCharity book when studying for the NCLEX-PN and found it to be extremely helpful. I also don't agree that "Saunders" is an adequate source to study for the NCLEX-PN. While Saunders is an excellent source, it doesn't adequately address prioritization and delegation near enough. There were plenty of questions in the La Charity book that addressed PN's delegating tasks to CNA's or other supportive staff.....Just my opinion.....

i second that mshellokitty! i also found the lacharity book very useful for studying the nclex-pn. even though the book is stirred for the rn, it helps with the prioritization and delegation for lpn's as well. when i was studying for my test i always had problems with the questions "which patient do you see first?" there was not any books out there to purchase for those types of multiple choose questions. the lacharity book put those multiple choose questions into prospective. so although the book is for rn's, it helps the pn test taker tremendously! i think the saunders book is an excellent source for studying content. this is just my !!
