I'm taking it in 4 days, yikes!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

I'm taking the NCLEX in 4 days. I took the Kaplan review course, and am getting 63-65% on the Exams. Do I need to have higher percentages to be more comfortable that I'll pass? I feel like I don't know enough content. However I don't want to postpone the NCLEX and just need to "get it over with." I'm getting so anxious and stressed about this. Anyone who passed the NCLEX on the first time have encouraging advice. This test is hard, but it adapts to you right? So I just need to use strategy and go slowly through each question, right? HELP!! I'm starting to doubt myself and get really freaked out.

You are doing well. I scored the same as you on Kaplan. You're right...just use the test taking strategies and the knowledge you have and you will do well I took the boards last year at this time...I know your stress. Try to relax. ;) When you leave the test and feel like you knew nothing...know that it's a normal feeling.

Good Luck

My friend had the same problem as you, in early February. I took mine in January and she called me to tell me that she was having doubts about taking NCLEX, as she was scoring in the 60s on Kaplan. I had her read a couple of questions, and even I was thinking, "these questions are pretty hard."

I loaned her my Lippincott review book, and she liked those questions much better.

I have heard from others that took Kaplan that Kaplan was very hard. So, if you are getting 60's with Kaplan, I'd say you are doing pretty well.

Needless to say, she passed.

Everyone goes through what you are going through, "Are we ready?"

No one can know all the content that is in the review books. If you can critically think and can reason through each question (throwing out the wrong options, and knowing rationales for why you chose the right option), then you have a great chance at passing.

Keep us posted, and keep your eye on the prize.

I am on almost the same boat. I'm taking the Nclex July 1. A part of me says I'm ready but another part of me says I am not. Whenever I use the Saunders CD rom, I find myself scoring somewhere in the high 80's to 90's. I even recieved several 100 percent in individual categories. Then I get bored of Saunders and decided to switch over to Davis for awhile. Ando n Davis I find myself doing worse. In the Planning part of the Nursing process, there's several questions that even seem almost like foreign languages to me.

Thank you for your encouragement. This is just getting to me. I'm going to take two more practice tests at Kaplan (6 and 7) and then call it good. If I feel really unprepared, I will reschedule, but that's going to be a last resort. Ahh, resort... I'll do that when I pass. Focus, grasshopper. :) I'll keep ya'll updated. Hopefully I'll be back saying "I took it and felt awful" and then "I got my results back I passed". Phew, that's just nerve-wracking to type let alone think about the potentials.

Good luck! Definitely keep us posted.

Good luck to you!

Nursebenson..I know how you feel..I'm also doing the Saunders CD, doing pretty good scoring in the 80s-90s. Our school made us purchase the ATI so I've also being doing online tests from there and I can't get our of the low 70's. I was freakin out so I purchased the online Mosby's CAT and I'm getting 94% of passing the NCLEX. I just don't understand how I can suck on the ATI but then do good on the Saunders and Mosby...Go Figure..

Anyway Good luck this week...

I'll keep you in my prayers..

Don't freak out about boards. I took mine 6.6.06, and passed. I did lots of saunders, kaplan, meds pub, and eri questions. I will tell you this. I had 75 questions, and I noticed the questions were very similar to Kaplan. Stick with Kaplan. I don't think I would have passed without my Kaplan questions. If you are getting 60-70% right you are on the right track for Kaplan. Good luck with the exam. Oh and after you take the exam don't start looking up information. I did that and then thought I failed, needless to say I drove my family nuts. Just relax!!!

P.S. Don't rescedule your exam, you will drive your self even more crazy.

Ok I'm feeling slightly better about this. This morning I was getting all worked up about the NCLEX, stressed out and scared by it. I had already rescheduled it from June 28 to June 21st to get it over with faster because I wasn't studying as hard as I knew I would the week before the exam. So I induced panic-mode (bad place to be) studying. But seriously, how can I possibly learn everything I need content-wise? It's not possible. So I was stressed that I didn't know tons of content, but I've looked back and realized I have covered a lot of content through my Kaplan online tests, Mosby flashcards, and Davis book. Granted I haven't covered it all, so I will this weekend some quickie information. I'm just praying/hoping I won't get oodles of medications, OB, pedi, and stupid select all that apply or picture pointing questions. Just give me prioritizing, first, most, med-surg, passing level hard NCLEX questions that I can handle. Lordy Lordy Lordy. Thanks you guys for advocating for me, you're good nurses/soon-to-be-nurses. I really appreciate you guys. Keep it comin'!
