failed the nclex rn for the 4th time...

First and foremost, don't ever think like that! Come on now, you're only 21, you're done with nursing school and you only need to pass one stupid test to practice. You say all your friends are out having fun...how 'bout you join them a few times? It'll be good for you. If you've studied this much then all you need is some TLC. Breathe, DGAC(don't give a crap), and just relax.

I don't know how credible my advice is since I haven't even received the results from my exam yet(took it on Oct. 9) but I did go into my exam relaxed. Good luck on your next one, you got this!

if you got through the program, then you have the smarts to pass the NCLEX. Reevaluate your test taking approach with more confidence. If you don't believe in yourself then you are dead in the water.

When I was fresh out of nursing school I failed my test 3 times. When I was feeling bad about myself I realized it had nothing to do with content but all about how to pick the right answer. I could always narrow it to two answers but understanding why the one answer was better was what I had to learn. So I studied tons of questions with the rationale. It was my key to success and I passed the test on the third try. Stop studying content it's a waste at this point . Do questions and answers and understanding why they are the right answers. Good luck! Brush yourself off and get yourself together. You can do it!

Every nurse that I know on a personal level, used ONLY ONE source of study material, including myself. We all used the latest edition of Kaplan's Strategies, Practices, and Review, based on word of mouth. The NCLEX-RN had just been revised two months prior to my taking it 3 years ago. I read that guide from cover to cover. But on the second read, I made sure that I thought about each correct answer and rationed out the difference between it and the incorrect answer choices. There were times that it took me a while to understand why one answer was chosen over what I thought was a better answer. But when I was able to identify the one word or phrase that eliminated my choice, it made the NCLEX very easy.

You must be very careful when using more than one source of study material because misprints happen sometimes and you will receive conflicting information, and depending on which you store in your memory banks might determine your success or failure.

Kaplan is the best for teaching test taking strategies.

I recommend kaplan q-banks , q-trainers... keep practicing such "passing level " qns over and over and over untill you understand how and why each answer is the correct one. Also incorporate kaplan test taking strategies into your way of reasoning (esp the decision tree)!

Never Give Up ! You are so young this is just a minor bump in the road on your way to the top.

I agree with the poster who cautioned you on using too many different practice materials. Some are saying its ok to give morphine for a person with pancreatic issues. Others say it's contra-indicated. The point I am trying to make is you want consistent information and if one text says one thing as opposed to the other, it will just add to the stress.

You can do this. If you got thru nursing school, you can do anything!!

thats what happened to me when i was trying to study for my first nclex exam, i was stuck between kaplan (2 books and their videos) and saunders, all it did was overwhelm me with information. Second time around I focused only on Kaplan's books since i'm not an auditory learner, and focused on brushing up my test taking strategies, and it worked! Have confidence, you made it through nursing school :) you can do it!

I was in the same situation as you...failed it 4 times. And in two days I am testing for my 5th attempt and this time I WILL PASS! Good luck, dont give up. I haven't yet!
