Five times? Scares me.

It kinda scares me also. I think that after repeated failure one should be required to take a remedial course before being allowed to attempt the test again.

Hi, I sluted you for your effort .Your story is admired me.I took NCLEX with CA board for 1s time and lucky me.I passed .I 'm foriegner nurse ,no experience in the floor excepted out patient clinic and no experience in USA, so it is more difficult to learn and less understand about nursing in USA.I read KAPLAN, Lippin's cott and spring house .I was prepared for 2 months before I took the test.I spent almost 2 hours in the test room to answer only 75 questions.I just want to make sure I 'm not hurry and analyse those questions before I move to the next.

If you have nursing procedure books.I think you should really focus on them.I got most of the questions about fracture and nursing intervention .The questions didn't really ask about diseases ,but nursing .I almost passed out because of I didn't see any questions semilar to the books I have read. You maybe need to focus on Surgical and Medical .Spend your time to read as much as possible and don't be rush.

Taking NCLEX for 5 times I think you can predict what kind of questions you expect to see for next time.

I wish the best for you .:) Keep your faith in GOD and keep praying .He knew you are deserve for it .:rotfl:

momx2, here is the formula: 5% effort and 95% prayers! Goodluck and Godbless!!!

Don't focus on how many times you didn't pass the NCLEX, or that you just recently failed it. That's not your goal! Your goal is to pass and that is what you should focus on! Just like everyone else said, stay positive and try to take a Kaplan review course. Either online or classroom, I heard both are very good. Good luck with the next test, hopefully it will be the last!

Thanks To All Of You For Your Kind Words And Reassurance; I Thought This Was A Place Where You Didnt Get Criticized For The Things You Say. But Its Ok. I Have Signed Up For Kaplan. Some Of You Guys Here Are Wonderful And I Feel Like I Know You By Your Posts. To All Of You Who Will Be Retaking The Nclex And To All Of You About To Take The Nclex For The First Time- Good Luck. You Will Make It And We Will All Be Rns And We Will All Be Taking Care Of People (or As Some People Say- I Will Probably Be Killing Them Ha Ha)

And For You Ms Nicu Rn Or Mr Nicu Rn Whatever You Are. I Am Actually Still With The Same Agency I Have Been With Since The First Time I Took Boards Making The Same Amount Of Money I Was Making Before I Failed. They Must Not Think I Will Be Killing Too Many People Or I Am Sure I Would Not Still Be With Them. But Thanks For Your Post Because You Just Made My Determination Level Reach The Sky. I Will Never Give Up If I Fail 100 Times. It's Amazing How Some Words You Think Would Hurt Someone Actually Helps. Maybe Your Words Were Just What I Needed After All- Thanks

Sorry to hear about you not passing. On the same token, you shouldn't compare yourself to your classmate who didn't know how to perform a sterile technique. Remember, the negative things you say against other people will come back to haunt you. Although your male classmate wasn't the best at performing sterile techniques at least he passed the boards and now possesses the honorable mention of joining the elite group of RN's. Where are you in your career right now? Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but when you trash other people just expect to get it back in return. Oh, and by-the-way, if its taken you this many times to TRY and pass the boards, chances are, you're in the wrong field. We, Registered Nurses, possess critical thinking abilities, and it's OUR critical thinking abilities that saves lives! That's why the NCLEX is so hard. We need more safe and competent RN's...not a bunch of idiots killing patients. Again, sorry to burst your bubble but that's reality for ya! In this profession, it is a must to have a thick skin! Enough said, case closed!

My NCLEX shut off at the minimum 75 questions and I thought it was a joke. This is how the state determines how safe I am to practice?

I'm sorry, but when you say "We Registered Nurses possess critical thinking abilities" you lost me. Look around you. Have you been a nurse for very long? Have you worked in more than one area? I ask this because you sound like someone fairly new to the field. Most seasoned nurses have seen a lot of unsafe and incompetent RN's, definitely lack critical thinking abilities.

It would be a beautiful nursing world if that NCLEX exam truely filtered out unsafe and incompetent nurses but most of us know that it definitely does NOT!!

I would rather have someone who knows how to change my sterile dressing properly if I were hospitalized than "Maybe I can't perform basic RN skills very well, but I know what Kawasaki syndrome is and all of the side effects of lithium, I passed the NCLEX."

MomX2 keep trying!! That exam is very abstract, I don't know what else to say about it. I used Meds publishing NCLEX-RN Gold software and liked it.

I know this is OT and I hope you don't see it as petty, but I am curious. Why do you type in a different font every time you post? Sometimes all caps, sometimes all lower case, sometimes just the first letter of each word in caps, but never in the traditional/ ie, typical fashion? Like I said, not a huge deal, but distracting enough to make me ask! Inquiring minds want to know. :p

Was kinda wondering the same thing! LOL!
