You must be so close to passing if you are getting 265 questions on your test. You must just be getting the last question wrong. Don't give up, you are almost there. Maybe you can sign up for a Kaplan course or the NCSBN has an affordable course. Good luck, you will make it...
thanks yvonneRN2B; I JUST FEEL LIKE I WASTED MY TIME IN NSG SCHOOL. AND NOW I HAVE TO SIT FOR BOARDS WITH THE NEW FORMAT AND I HAVE TO SCORE HIGHER TO PASS NOW BECAUSE I CANNOT RETAKE UNTIL MAY. I KNOW EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON AND ALL I CAN DO IS PRAY ABOUT IT. I AM GOING TO TRY KAPLAN IF EVERYONE THINKS IT IS WORTH IT. IS THE ONLINE JUST AS GOOD AS THE CLASSROOM?
THANKS MOMX2

helped me pass the nclex on my second try. The videos are long and boring, but I learned a lot. The test taking tips are fantastic. I think that it was well worth the money. Good luck to you. I am sure that you will do well. If I can help you let me know. whinny

MOMx2....first off....stay positive.......don't get down.....I know it's easier said than done, but just try.....I would recommend KAPLAN.....the long, boring content videos do suck but......they teach you ALOT. Do not rely on just the classroom time to pass. You have to dedicate yourself to the Kaplan Training Center.....5 days a week, at least for 3 hours for at least 3 weeks.....you will feel extremely confident......it is worth it....I passed mine the first time this past week......140 questions.....study, pray, study....and ALWAYS pray some more.....stay up!........Prayer works, trust me!

Oh that must feel awful.
Check with local colleges. I took a weeklong NCLEX review course before I took the boards. (Mine was at Boston College.) It was intense but worth it. Just hearing the same information gone over in a different way was great. I remember it as being pretty reassuring- I knew more than I thought I did!
I don't know anything about Kaplan, but from other posts here it sounds like a slower program. It depends on how you learn- do you want to go at your own pace or do you want to have it thrown at you?
Good luck! I truly believe that the boards say very little about how well you will perform as a real nurse.

I agree with everyone else. Stay positive and keep trying. I just finished school in mid-February and have yet to take the test. I will also be testing under the new conditions and I am nervous as hell. Unfortunately, I can't afford the Kaplan online class but I am reading and studying from the Kaplan book. I read it once and am going to read it again. So I wish you luck and don't feel defeated. We will all be RN's soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MomX2,
Hey... just wanted 2 let U know that U R in my prayers. Listen 2 all the great advice. They R all great. I wanted 2 give U some.... hope this helps:
I used 2 books 2 study 4 nclex: Kaplan (blue book $35) and Saunder's Comp. Review. I couldn't afford those expensive review classes. Kaplan did not have that many Q's but it taught me how 2 answer nclex-style Q's. Saunders... I answered as many Q's on the computer CD until I was sick. Don't worry 'bout how many Q's right or wrong. Just answer as many Q's (w/ rationale) until U get exhausted and tired. This conditioned my brain 2 answer nclex-style Q's. Next... two days prior 2 your nclex day.... be sure 2 NOT study. This is important because U need 2 give your brain some rest and relaxation. Do something fun and relaxing on those 2 days. Next... when U R taking the nclex.... give yourself a 7 to 10 minute break if U go pass 75 Q's. Why.... because U need 2 give your brain some oxygen. So.... get away for 7 to 10 minutes. I took a break once I passed 75Q's and returned and the computer shut off at 84 or 86 Q's and the rest is history. I am a new RN (july 2003).
MomX2.... I admire your strong character and your "never give up" attitude. U will become a great RN. Just remember this quote.... "If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it". (WINK!!!)
Take care and God bless you,
WARHAWK

I definitely feel your pain...I just failed for the second time. I took the test on Monday, and found out I failed today. I took Kaplan for my first time and it didn't help me one bit, but it definitely depends on what the best studying strategy is for you. It has helped many of my friends, but not me personally. Just keep at it. I feel like everything happens for a reason, and for some reason that only God knows, you were meant to pass yet. That's how I look at it. We will all make it! You are going to be a great nurse. I can tell because you sound like a very dedicated person. Don't let it get you down! Good luck to you. I'll say a prayer! Say one for me too...lol!!
