Does this mean I failed?

I doubt the test is going to determine whether you pass or fail based on one math calculation. Are you 100% sure you missed the math calc? When I took the test, I only had one math calc, luckily I got it right and they never asked me another one. So it's possible that you got it right and that's why they didn't ask you anymore.

I don't think having 1 med calc means you failed at all, many of the posts I have read have only had 1. I had 2, the first one I KNOW I got wrong (put in a random number cause I had no clue) and then towards the end it asked me the same type of question just with different numbers.

Even getting a few wrong does not mean you failed. The exam is so hard to predict. Best thing to do is relax, catch up on stuff and wait for results. Good luck

I had 4 math quesstions and the first two were really easy, the last two were easy but I know I missed the last two. I don't like using computer calculators and I had to keep checking my numbers on the screen because it was jarring but also, one of the questions they had had an unusual decimal placement for that type of math problem.

Anyway, I had so many sata's and then I am sitting here thinking I mised 2 math problems that I KNOW how to do (don't you hate missing black and white questions like math?!!! compared to the sata's which are such a stretch?!!)...and am thinking I surely failed.

But then again, some people don't get any math. I don't get this test. It is not fair across the board in my opinion...at least with Hesi, all students are getting the same questions.

I'm quite sure I got the question wrong. It involved converting mcgs to mgs and I psyched myself out with the conversion. I converted 3665mcgs to 366.5mgs. It should have been 36.65, right?

Actually since there are 1000mcg in 1 mg, the answer would have been 3.665 or 3.7.

It's so easy to mess up on conversions though.

Our RN program had a 20 question math test every semester. If you failed it 3 times, you were out of the program. One problem might have so much information embedded in it that they could ask you several questions out of it. It was interesting to pick out the useful information and the detractors. Most the of the questions missed, according to our instructors, were conversions.

Don't ever sweat one type of question. Even for people who get several math questions, we can't say that's a bad sign because we don't even know which questions are scored vs unscored.

To answer your question as to how many sata's I had - I lost track, it felt like 1/3 of the test. I had 75 questions. My meds were even in sata format. Not bad enough to get meds, but meds with part of the sata that you knew (predictable aspect of that med) but then there's always the guessing game on the other parts.

I'm just mad about the math becuase I genuinely did those types of math problems with ease in school, and even talked to myself (mentally people, no literally) during the nclex that "I am glad to have math about now, predictable". HA!

As I mentioned, the test bank questions were very broad overall but the precision of knowing that many sata's felt futile. The prioritization was challenging...even the sata for infection control. Okay, I couldn't get away from sata, period. I would think "know that material" and bam - there it is in sata, take that test-taker!!!!

I used to feel good about knowing the good old endocrine system but lo and behold, nclex changed all that!!!!!!!! Also, I think it's so easy to read into questions because some were really like, "okay, this seems to easy but the answer has to be 'this'" when others are killers. And here's another thing - growing teeth - the ncsbn website I bought for $49 said "subtract the number of age in months from 12"...okay that's the number of teeth the baby should have. But what if the question says a lower number and it's not "should have at least 'this number'"...do you assume, that part of the sata means "yes, they should have at least 2 teeth but ... according to this rule, they could have as many as 4"...

My brain remembers way too much of the test and i don't know why it didn't work so well on the test. Darnit, I want a life and I pushed my kids aside all summer studying every single day...every day. No tv with them, barely any playing, no fun. Just studying. AHHHHHHHH! Over 6,000 practice questions and books - and nothing felt like it prepared me. The thought of having to give up my life to study again makes me ill!!!!!!!!

Just got back from taking the NCLEX-RN. Got shut off at 75 questions.

I got only one med calc question and I know now that I got it wrong. Do you think this means I failed? I know that the computer typically gives you other questions on the same subject to see if you get them correct, but this being a calculation question, I could see how the test may say "get one of these wrong and you're out".

What do you all think?

I need to go do some deep breathing and slow my heart rate!

i don't think that means u failed. i had no med questions and somewhere in here i read u r supposed to get 50% right and 50% wrong.

Hi, just took my NCLEX yesterday, that was my 2nd time..haha..last time the computer stopped at 86..my last ? is about the alarm. I knew it..I will fail..but still hoping..but I'm right..I failed the first time..haha..because my last ? is very easy..and c'mon..to as ask someone bout the alarm....that's my review ctr. told us..if ever u had ur last ? which is not related to pharma, med surg psych..etc..u didn't make it..and yesterday i had 265 ?s...I really want to have my exam that long..really..and my last ? was about domestic violence..is this psych related? it is ryt? but im not drawing any expectations..don't worry..haha..my ans. was i will assist the victim in making escape plans..I checked the book and it's correct..but still...it's 265...so..many ?s to be evaluated..and i'm sure I'm not consistent with answering those..I answered the calculations..not in 2 decimal places..haha..and realized it at the middle of the exam..and other math ?s i did it ryt...the ans? im not sure..haha..Is the last ? really matter..with 265 ?s if it's easy..or just need common sense...Does it mean u didn't make it..I feel good bout the exam..but Im still in ambivalence..pls. help me..Thank you
