Did Hurst, NCLEX on 06/25...advice please!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello everyone! I am taking my NCLEX in about a week and a half and just want to make sure that I'm on the right track...

I did the Hurst Review and have been studying for approximately 4-6 hours a day. I get good scores on their practice tests, so far 82/125 and 84/125. I feel like I have a pretty decent understanding of the content barring a few particular areas, but my knowledge of pharmacology is lacking. I got a 94% chance of passing NCLEX on my ATI.

I always feel really good about my studying until I move to another method, like the Saunders comprehensive review...I did one of their practice assessments today and only got a 57%. I was really frustrated by their questions and started to doubt my ability to critically APPLY my knowledge from Hurst.

Where should I go from here? I am about 10 days into my studying. Should I trust the scores I'm getting on the Q-review and continue to focus mostly on the Hurst materials, or should I also incorporate more practice questions from Saunders? Is there anyone who solely did Hurst and passed first try?

I'm so curious about how many of the NCLEX questions are about random conditions and procedures that I've NEVER heard of. If that's the bulk of my questions then I'm surely screwed! Over. Whelmed.

hello... you are on the right track. HURST is the best! a lot of materials can confuse you that you end up questioning your abilities. Stick with hurst and it's principles :) you'll do great in the exams trust me. i took mine last thursday and i passed with 78 questions. pm me if u need detailed help.

I used Hurst and passed. The only thing with Hurst is I found that it didn't give me enough practice questions, so I bought Exam cram 4th edition from Amazon just to supplement what I learned from hurst...it's a blue/yellow book with over 1300 questions. Good Luck!

Thanks so much zeifrancisco, I embarrassingly don't know how to send a PM. Any additional tips would be appreciated, but I will take your advice and stick to the Hurst.

My school has us do ATI but I went ahead and did Hurst. Passed in 75 questions. Stick with Hurst its way better. Get 80s and higher n u should be just fine. Good luck

The key to passing isnt doing a million practice questions its knowing the material n what i like to call having nursing common sense

Did you feel like you knew the information without hesitation/doubt before taking it?? Or just as much as you could cram? And how about pharm?

I did hurst and passed... I knew that book "without a doubt" lol. I did all 6 test and my score were 83, 89, 89, 90, 94, 87 (not in order) / 125

Did you focus more on reviewing content or practicing questions? Did you just use the Hurst?

How much is Hurst

I am taking mine in a week the second time. I used Kaplan the first time and it didn't work for me.
