anyone taken the ERI RN-CAT mock-NCLEX?

Today at school we took the RN-CAT mock-NCLEX. It's set up the same way as the NCLEX where you can get any # of questions and the computer shuts off once it has assessed your knowledge.

Anyway, I got only the minimum # of questions (90) and passed with an 86% (you have to get at least 62% to pass). I thought it seemed pretty easy. For example, I didn't get any questions that required me to know any lab values. That seems weird.

I'm just wondering -- if you've taken it, do you feel like it was an accurate assessment of how well-prepared you are for the NCLEX?

Thanks!

amy :)

just wanted to say I have never heard of this.

Yeah, I'd never heard of it either. My classmates and I are a little concerned about this company (ERI) that made this mock-NCLEX, because they're also doing a 4-day comprehensive review at the end of the year, and since none of us had ever heard of them before either, we don't know if we should do their review or sign up for Kaplan.

Thanks for your reply, Tiffany!

HI,

I took the ERI mock boards test. I had to take it in order to graduate. I took it in November. It was hard I thought, but when I took the boards I thought it was the most like the questions that I got. I also took a review class and used the review books but I thought that the ERI questions were the closest to the boards. You never know what kind of questions you will get. I got alot of delegating and prioritizing questions. LIke you have 4 pts. who do you go to first, but they were really hard. I took all the questions, all 265 and passed. Just remember that it doesn't matter the number of questions you take. Just keep doing questions and study material that you are weak in and you'll do fine. :)

We have to take the ERI PreRN Assessment. I think it's different than what you're describing, because it's a set number of questions (about 250) and doesn't just shut off.

We have to make a 65 on it in order to graduate. I made a 60 on my first attempt. The class as a whole averaged about 50-60, with just a few passing at about 65. It was hard! I take it the second time next week, I'm so stressed about it, I have to pass it!

We're told if you get a 65 on it, that means you have about a 95% chance of passing the NCLEX. So it's a good assessment of how you'll do, I just hope I can pass it!

I took my CAT today. I didn't realize it cut off at 90. Mine cut off at 90. I thought I went over (thought it starting cutting off at 75). I passed with an 81. Need to work on math. Went blank on the mcg/kg/min. I got to the mg/hr part, and went stupid. There were some I was certain of an answer, and put it down, and it was wrong. Going to talk to instructor about that. I plan on taking the 4 day course. Heck, I've paid for it...can't hurt. -Andrea

At my school, we had to take the ERI tests all throughout the 2 years while in the program. If we didn't pass an exam, we had to go to a review. We had to pass the final Pre-RN exam in order to graduate. We were told it was a good indicator as to whether we would pass the nclex. We also had the 4-day ERI nclex review offered to us (the fee was included in our tuition). I spent about a 1/2 hr in the review & decided I'd be better off studying on my own. I thought the ERI exams were more difficult than the nclex. I passed the nclex with 75 questions.

Whew, that's good to hear! Everyone in my school is worried about whether or not to sign up for Kaplan as well as ERI, and everyone wants to know how the ERI practice questions compare to the real deal. Thanks for your info -- I'll pass it on to my classmates!

Yes, we had to take two RN-CAT's. I got 90 on both of them as well. Although, 90 is not the miimum, I believe it's 75...
