I'm just confused because at school we're taught that 1 cup=180mL and 1 glass=240 mL. I was reading a book awhile ago it says that 1 cup=240 mL.

If your talking about drinking cups-

6oz cup(juice glass?)=180ml

8oz glass(beverage glass?)= 240ml

Hee, Hee let me confuse just a little more. 1 cup in Australia is 250ml. Glad to be of assistance. ?

It just say 2 cups of water. I'm practicing answering questions and happen to bump on this. How can you figure out if that cup the question is talking about is an 8 oz or a 6 oz cup?

The school might be speaking of drinking cups at facilities. The book is speaking of the standard US measurement of 1 cup. So when doing the questions in the book and the NCLEX you would go with the STANDARD measurement. Not what your school said a cup is. Your school might have said a glass is 240mL because most drinking glasses (the big ones) are 8 ounce glasses. But in all reality:

1 US cup = 8 US fluid ounces

so 8oz x 30=240mL

8 ounces is 1 cup

16 ounces is 2 cups which is 1 pint

32 ounces is 4 cups which is 2 pints which is 1 quart

128 ounces is 16 cups which is 8 pints which is 4 quarts which is 1 gallon

Actually it is 237 but 240 is what is used.

How many ounces are in a pound?? I just went brain dead!!!
