  1. Close your bank account, that at least will stop them taking more money from you.
  2. You only have to be off work 3 months to apply. You can apply online too. I finally broke down to have a hip replacement, the time I was off with paid leave counted to the wait period. I was approved first try. http://ssdfacts.com/forum/index.php?action=forum
  3. Check airway, the obstruction may have dislodged when the child lost conciousness.
  4. If your talking about drinking cups- 6oz cup(juice glass?)=180ml 8oz glass(beverage glass?)= 240ml
  5. What is the correct pronunciation of coccyx? cock kix cock sic I've heard it both ways.
  6. Well I work evenings not nites but one nite I was charting(paper mars all in one book) I was really sleepy. couple days later when I was back in that unit I noticed I had initialed in places with no meds, and one mar I had circled my initials and noted "meds not available"
  7. When I first started my job (25yrs ago) they used the tine tests, I never had any kind of reaction. The first year they switched to the PPD, I had a huge flaming reaction. Apparently must have been allergic to something in the vaccine. They put me down as neg since I had never reacted before. The reaction has gotten smaller each year.
  8. My 1st hubby was a jerk when it came to asking me for advice. He asked once if I had anything he could take for a headache. I offered him some Motrin. "MOTRIN!! that's for womens stuff, it will make me a sissy. Thought you were supposed to be a nurse!" Another time he was having allergy symptoms and asked if I had anything. Directed him to some Benedryl he had left from a rash. " That's for rashes not sneezing. Thought you were supposed to be a nurse!" I started answering "I don't know" to anything he asked. It was easier.
  9. The Karma bus eventually catches up with the backstabbers. We had a nurse who was always reporting others for piddley stuff. Our complaints against her never went anywhere. Til recently when it was pointed out to a fill in supervisor ( regular RN picked a good time to take a vacation ) that there was way too much of a certain med left over at the end of the month. She is no longer employed there.
  10. At the MR-DDS facility I've been at for 23yrs, the first few years I was there they used the Tine tests. Never so much as a red spot. When they switched to PPD, I had a huuuuuuuge red raised area, even at 72hrs. The nurse who did them passed me since I'd never reacted before. It's gradually gotten smaller over the years. The worst part was other people asking "OMG, WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOUR ARM?"!!!
  11. I have an old book(pub 1911) that is a combination home medical/ recipe/animal husbandry book. In the medical section there are helpfull hints, one of which is from a Naval Physician- he claimed you could resusitate some one who wasn't breathing by blowing in their EAR!
  12. Conversations with my first hubby. Him: Got anything I can take for this headache? Me: Here, take some of this Motrin. Him: What!! Thats for womens stuff, it'll make me a sissy. I thought you were suppose to be a nurse! Him: What can I take for these allergies. Me: Here's some Benedryl. Him: What, that's for itching(previous allergic reaction). I thought you were suppose to be a nurse! I finally got to the point I just said "I don't know, go see the doctor". sheri

  14. Actually, if you can get them to eat a whole bag of SF candy, it will work just about as well. (personal experience) sheri
  15. I've got one. I work in a large MR DDS facility. We have one young man who's family is very involved. He has numerous allergies ( according to mom ). One day she called, said her sister, who lived in another state, had a sinus headache, could we give her son some Tylenol cause he probably had one too. sheri
