Male nurse on The ultimate fighter

His name is Phillipe Nover from New York, he seems to be really good and a hard hitter. very technical fighter. looked really impressive in his win tonight. any one else see it?

awesome, i didnt know he was a nurse..i am a huge fan of ufc and mma so im interested in this.. i did watch him fight, he did a good job.

ok..with the popularity of MMA, he needs to be on the next "are you man enough to be a nurse" poster....'cause he'll beat you if you aren't'

I thought he looked in his fight too...imagine if he wins. save money, treat your own injuries...know your body, what a edge.

If memory serves, I believe former TUF member and current UFC fighter Rory Singer was a nursing student at the University of Georgia at Athens. He is also a former teammate/roommate of the current LHW champion Forrest Griffin.

Useless trivia I am sure.

Anyone a fan of MMA? I've been watching Ultimate Fighter on Spike and on this season one of the guys is an E.R. RN ...pretty cool! Anyone else out there do somethin' similiar?

The guy's name is Phillipe Nover. I'm an ER Rn and huge MMA fan myself. My sister dated a UFC Fighter briefly, and I used to go work out with him occassionally it's a hardcore workout. I don't see how he has the energy to train and be a nurse but it's all about mindset and wanting to do it. When I first started working in ER one of my co workers was a boxer as well as a nurse, plus he was married with 2 kids. I really never saw how that guy did it. I have enough trouble keeping up with working, going to grad school and having a pregnant girlfriend. I couldn't imagine throwing one more thing on there. I have much much respect for Nover and hope he wins.

I trained and fought all through nursing school at the amateur level. I have been out for six months because I just went through a critical care fellowship, but I found a school next to where I work. I just need to find the motivation now. I must admit though at times its tough to be going to the hospital with a black eye...it never looks good. Plagued by small injuries I had to get my act together to get through school.

Where do you fight out of? I bet you did have to get it together for school, I could imagine going through through school and having to suffer through clinicals all banged up. I love MMA, and the guy my sister dated used to put me through brutal workouts when I went with him. He really had me wanting to hardcore train to fight, but I never could due to a knee that's already had 3 surgeries on it and like to give way when it feels like it. If my knee could hold up I'd love to actually fight or even just train to fight.

I live in Denver, and I trained out of a small place next to where I went to school. Its both a kempo school and a japanese style they call shootfighting, which is basically just another name for mixed martial arts. I started originally with my focus being on kempo primarily to get in shape and for self defense, but then I fell in love with mma. Unfortunately, I have a stupidly stubborn attitude when it comes to tapping out so I injured my right elbow and I had to wear a sling through a portion of my med/surg II rotation.
