? if you've recently taken the NCLEX RN in MA

Hi everyone,

I'm graduating in May of this year (finally!). Today we had a lecturer/NCLEX test prep woman come to our school and do review with us. She gave us the directions for how to register for the NCLEX (simplified version); and said we can register with Pearson Vue and fill out the application form ASAP.

So I came home, did my thing on the Pearson Vue website, put down my CC for the $200.

THen i find the MA BON website with the application to print and complete, and see that their people, the Professional Credential Services Inc has a note for payment as well, for $230.

Am I reading this right?? I Don't have a problem at all paying $430 if that's what I need to do, but obviously I don't want to overpay.

Anyone who has taken the NCLEX RN recently -- can you tell me if this is correct? What fees did you pay exactly? Thanks in advance :)

Its is $430.

The board of nursing fee for your license and background check plus the Pearson VUE fee. They are both legit.

The state will do a check to validate your eligibility to sit for the boards, and once that is done they will release to Pearson your ATT and you can then schedule your exam.

The good news is that the MA BON is so quick you don't need to pay Pearson for early notice!

De2013,Thanks for your reply! Just wanted to verify both fees were needed. As far as I can tell, the application isn't sent to the MA BON until I get the school to verify that I have completed the program officially (after graduation) ... Unless that's wrong and I should send the bulk of my application NOW and then send off that one piece that says I am eligible in May.

How it worked for me (which I assume would be the same for you):

I registered online with Pearson and paid via CC.

I filled out the MA BON paperwork (which included my CC) and passed it in to the school. Once final grades were in, the school processed each student's paperwork and submitted them in bulk.

I received my ATT from Pearson about two weeks after grades were in (was holiday time as well).

I scheduled/took my exam a week later.

this is how it worked for me. Finished required NCLEX review, went to the school to have paper stamped, had picture taken and mailed both the BON paperwork and Pearsonvue that evening, got my ATT in a week via e-mail - sat for NCLEX two weeks later.

Yup, I took my NCLEX this morning (got the GOOD POP UP!!!!!) and that is exactly how it worked for me. I certainly hope the BON is quick to get my license listed because I am supposed to start work in less than two weeks!

Good luck cayenne06 - you're one of the very, very few to have a job lined up. Finding a New Grad RN jobs in MA is like winning the lottery.

It was $375 when I did it 5 years ago but, yes, there are 2 fees. One is the cost of the NCLEX and the other is the cost of your license.

I took it this past Sept. and yes $430 is correct. I agree with another poster the "Good Popup" works.
