Hello everyone! I may be a little early with this, but here's a new post for all of you hoping to apply this September 2nd for the Spring 2015 semester at UMSON. You can post questions you have, helpful advice you would like to give (if you're already in the program), etc.

I specifically have a question for those who have already applied to the Spring 2014 semester and got in. When you applied last September, when in November did you get your acceptance letter in the mail? Was it the beginning, middle, or toward the end of November? I'm asking this because the other nursing school I am applying to only gives a 3-week time period after the end of October (when they let you know if you made it in or not) to accept or decline enrollment. So, if I don't make it into UMSON, I'd want to be able to give this other nursing school an answer before the 3-week time period runs out.

It looks like they haven't extended the deadline for traditional BSN, at least as of right now. I hope they don't, since my application is in, and the later the deadline, the later we'll hear back!

Also interesting that most of us are Shady Grove folks...especially since Baltimore supposedly gets more applicants.

Now we wait! Is anyone applying anywhere else? I am looking to apply to AACC's nursing program.

I agree. I hope it doesn't push back the decision dates. I have already submitted my application too since I thought it was due Sept 2nd.

Agreeing with bcandygurl and usetobecool84. Going by last year's Spring 2014 prospectives (deadline pushed back to September 15th), I had originally thought we'd be getting our acceptances/rejections on the first to second week of November. That would be cutting it close to the end of the 2-week period for Towson, and I wouldn't want to send in my enrollment to them only to find out a day or two later that I got into UMSON's program--my #1 choice! So I'm (SO) glad happymochi asked admissions about when we'd be hearing back (which, in mid-October, is around the same time as Towson). :)

Does anyone know of any other schools that have a nursing program in Maryland or surrounding states that are still accepting applications for the spring semester? Trying not to put all of my eggs in one basket! :nailbiting:

katiep_123 Frederick Community College in Frederick, MD has an EXCELLENT nursing program. However, it is an associate's degree, nevertheless it is one of the best programs in Maryland for nursing. I've heard this from many people in the DC area (not so sure the Baltimore area). I currently have classmates in my Micro class who are in the process of trying to get into the Spring 2015 program, but I'm not entirely sure if they're still accepting applications. I would check out their website here!

My cousin also graduated from this program last December and loved it, however it was very challenging!

Thank you Littlemango!

The issue with community colleges is there is normally a waiting list. I went to Howard Community College, and I really enjoyed the program. I got in right away, but I also live in Howard county. I have heard from others though that they have been on the wait list for up to a year though. You can still apply and see though.

Goodluck everyone!! I'm just so worried about my application. One of my professors said he'll get the recommendation emailed by this week..and still hasn't yet. I'm freaking out and it's driving me crazy. I emailed the school and they said the committee may not even consider looking at my application because my recommendation was sent in late. :(

What!? Did you ask him before the summer? And did he know the urgency?

I'm not applying anywhere else, so I've got my fingers crossed extra tight. I want to go straight for the BSN and MD has a great commute and is so much cheaper than Georgetown, GWU, Towson, and JHU...I can do $25k in tuition over 2 years to change careers, but I can't really justify $50-$80k - especially when I'd have to get a car and pay for that too!

usedtobecool84, $25k? Will it be this much for the two years at UMSON? I've been curious about the tuition situation here. I wonder if any current students can help clarify.
