Applying to MSMC's 2011 absn program? Yeah, me too. Just wanted to hearing from others in the same boat.

Thanks! I'm new to ALLNURSES.COM but I've found it to be a great social network thus far. I haven't heard anything about a denial or interview yet either..

Hi Leah Beth! Welcome to the thread! No, I have heard absolutely nothing from the school yet, what about you??

Pauliwankenobi--- thanks for the encouragement. Bioethics can be taken after getting accepted too, right? How was the interview process and how is the year treating you thus far?

For those of you that were denied, definitely apply again. Kim ("sugarlips") is right- if you're denied or waitlisted, there's still a good chance that you can still get in the program at some point.

Im a current absn student who had a 3.4 gpa with micro, bible as lit and bioethics in progress when I applied. You guys sound smart. I'm sure you're chances of getting accepted are high.

Ps. I know that there are some current "anonymous" absn lurkers out there who aren't contributing to this thread!

I took bioethics before I was accepted on the assumption that I would just make it into the program. Wishful thinking, I know. If you're diligent, you can do the online bioethics course in a month. [i have books to sell!!! :)]

You cannot take the bioethics course once the absn program starts. As long as you finish it by the start of the program, you should be good to go.

So far, were a third done with the program. Honestly, it's not that bad. People still go out and "rage." you don't have to break up with your significant other. The workload can be heavy, but it's not that overwhelming. I still managed to get 7-8 hours of sleep every night.

They made clinicals pass/fail, which definitely took some of the edge off.

Just be sure that you can budget your time. Procrastination doesn't work in this program.

Carshell, I too live in Ventura, also have kids and a hubby... I thought about applying to maybe the weekend nursing program. even though it would take much longer... wouldn't have to worry about babysitters or long commutes... just a thought.

SDNurse2011 I also am considering applying to OHSU, Concordia, and Seattle... what a small world. Not many will travel out of cali for nursing!!! I love Portland though, so I'd be too happy to get into one of their programs.

Wondering though if my 3.54 gpa is going to be good enough for a program outside of a community college level??????? My counselor made it sound like "Just go to ours bc the competition is soooo overwhelming... your chances of getting in are slim compared to ours..."

Anyway.. good luck!

I had an overall gpa of 3.4 before I took my science prereqs. You should be ok.

The interview process isn't that bad. All of the questions are pretty standard, ie. "how do you handle stress, how have you handled a problem that youve dealt with, etc."

From my interview, I basically felt as though I was already accepted. Other people felt that way, too. Just vibe it once you get interviewed.

Don't worry too much :) Srsly.

Merry Christmas to everyone! I was hoping we would all hear some good news by Christmas but looks like we need to wait a little bit longer. Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone! Happy Holidays!

Hi everyone! I'm looking into the program in the future, and am wondering where you all took the Bioethics class. I would love to get that done as soon as possible.

Thanks, and good luck to you all! :)

Someday...MSMC only accepts Taylor University's Bioethics course, otherwise you must take their class during the 2nd semester. It is a self-paced course, and you have 6 months to complete the class. However, you MUST finish the class before the 1st day of classes at MSMC. I got it done in 6 weeks.

Thank you!

Just to clarify...we can take this course even before we apply?

Sorry for all the questions. I would love to attend an info session at MSMC, but the ones coming up won't work with my schedule. :(

Yes, you can take bioethics before you apply.

Thanks!

Sorry for the delay in my response. I've been enjoying our month off. For those that are planning on taking the Bioethics course via Taylor, I have two sets of books to sell and it looks like Pauli has a set, as well. Good luck! Only 2 more months to sweat it out.
