Montgomery College Nursing Spring 2015

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

So I figured I would start a new thread for those applying to Montgomery College in Spring 2015.

I had applied to the nursing program in the fall of 2015 but was put on a "wait list" which was not used because my AP 1 and 2 were over 5 years old. I have since taken a pathophysiology class and so now the AP 1 and 2 will be counted towards the four core course requirements. I have a 3.45 GPA, I scored an 82.7 on my Teas, and I have all four of the required prerequisites finished.

I really hope I get in this time or I don't know what I am going to do. I have heard the spring semester is easier to get in which makes sense because you don't have all the high school seniors that will be graduating applying. Anyway good luck to everyone applying!

Why would the MC CPR class be all day? I thought CPR classes were 3-4 hours?

Not too sure, but it's from 9am to 3:30pm. So about 6.5 hours long. Maybe it's because it's the Health Providers version?

Sfranci, drop the other one and take the MC one with us lol

Ok wooow so I've been so preoccupied with my last semester at UMD that I didn't even read the orientation packet carefully. American Red Cross isn't even an authorized vendor with MC haha

so I dropped the class, and am taking it with you guys on 11/1 =) see you guys!!

btw you can call me Sophia!

Awesome!!! See you there!

I also went to my doc today and he insisted that I only needed 1 PPD, so he gave me that, but when I got home I called to make an appointment in a couple weeks to have the second one. He doesn't know it, but he will do it. Lol

okay you guys, I have completed all of my shots, titers, hearing exam, eye exam, etc but I did want to warn you. After I was done I asked my doctor to complete the physician form but I was told that It must be given to the Administration department and then they will send it to her. Once she fills it out she will give it back to the administration department to give to me. I was told it takes about 10 business days. So if you have not completed everything so your doctor can fill out the paper yet please speak to your doctor about the policy when it comes to completing it because it may put you over the deadline. I should have mine about 6 to 8 days before the deadline but BE CAREFUL YOU ALL BECAUSE YOUR DOCTORS COMPANY MAY HAVE A NEW POLICY THAT WILL MAKE IT TAKE WAY TOO LONG.

Hey you all I also have question. You all may have seen me at the orientation....I was the guy who left at about 1:pm because I had to go pick up my son. I was wondering what was said after the lady finished speaking about he schedules. I know they were going to cover uniforms. Can anyone please help me out and let me know if I missed something important. Thanks a lot.... Maybe I can change my photo/avatar to my real photo once I figure out how that works...lol

Hope,

i work at at holy cross hospital and they required 2 ppd shots... Apparently one can be negative and yet you still have it.

Where did you get everything done at? I got all my stuff done at the UMD Health Center and I got it back right away.

The uniforms are through Fenton Uniform and they will be at registration so you can try everything on/order your uniform at registration. They run about $100 for the tunic top, pants, and lab coat.

I got all my stuff done at my doctors office except the titers because it would have cost me 600! Funny thing is that I had the titers drawn in 2007 but they said at orientation it had to be within 5 years which my doctor said did not make sense. He said if your immune your always immune it's not going to change. I emailed Ms. Matthews but went ahead and had them drawn at the health center and then received an email saying there was no need to do them again...uugh..... What a pain the butt! I already had my cpr for healthcare worker completed and I have also done the background and drug screening

I also had the hep b shot and ppd done at my job
