Montgomery College Nursing Spring 2015

Published

So I figured I would start a new thread for those applying to Montgomery College in Spring 2015.

I had applied to the nursing program in the fall of 2015 but was put on a "wait list" which was not used because my AP 1 and 2 were over 5 years old. I have since taken a pathophysiology class and so now the AP 1 and 2 will be counted towards the four core course requirements. I have a 3.45 GPA, I scored an 82.7 on my Teas, and I have all four of the required prerequisites finished.

I really hope I get in this time or I don't know what I am going to do. I have heard the spring semester is easier to get in which makes sense because you don't have all the high school seniors that will be graduating applying. Anyway good luck to everyone applying!

Yup, on the 21st you just need the confirmation of payment printed out for the drug test and background check. Then when you go to register on the 3rd, you will get the Chain of Custody form for the drug test. Then after you get your drug test done, you turn in your copy of the Chain of custody form sometime in the beginning of January...at least that's how it was last fall.

Hi all,

My name is Jasmine, I just joined this forum after seeing that some of you had attended the orientation today as well :) I was the Asian girl sitting in front of the girl who didn't want to get a flu shot haha......

From my understanding, the payment confirmations for PreCheck's background AND drug-alcohol are due on 11/21. The actual screenings are to be done sometime in January (date wasn't specified today). In January, we also need to complete and turn in page 14 which will be given to us on 12/1 or 12/3.

If anyone heard differently, let me and the rest of us know... For the PreCheck stuff, the sooner you get it done the better. Make copies of everything.

For the lottery system, I think we will be given a random number which will determine when we are called up to choose which nu113/clinical session we want to sign up for. It would be good to come early/on time, but don't be late since they give numbers to those in the room only. Each session has 40 student seats, and each clinical site has 8 slots- of those 8 at that particular site, 4 are reserved for 12/1 registrants and 4 for 12/3 registrants. I'm in the 12/3 group.

For me, I'm hoping not to have clinical on Monday... thats rough for a non-morning person like me. But it will really depend on what additional sites they come out with. Hope this helps!

I don't understand how the books, if you buy through them, cost $700. But if I look up these books on Amazon, I can get them for around $300 or so. Does that make any sense???? I don't get it. lol.

Jasmine, I am definitely not a morning person either. I need 9 to 10 hours of sleep to feel relatively awake the next day! Augh.

Yeah, they walk around the room with a box full of numbers...and you take one out, and that's the lottery system lol.

And I only spent about $300 on all my books...I think the school tries to advertise the bundle.

okay after reading all the last three pages of recent post I became confused. I thought the drug screening was just the confirmation page but the background check was suppose to be completed??? I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly after reading all of the post about it...

For Nov. 21st you need confirmation page of both background check and drug screening :)

Correct me if I'm wrong but the background check will be completed because all they need is your info and within 3 to 5 business days they will have your report and you can look at it online. But of course all the nursing program wants is the receipt/confirmation of payment.

I already got both of those done. Wish they didn't add up to $100 something though, especially since it has to be done yearly. :p

Is anyone taking CPR on November 1st? Just curious since I will be and wondered if any of you would be in the same class.

I'm taking it on 11/13 with the American Red Cross. Hope I get my CPR certification as soon as the class ends?

I will be taking the MC CPR session for health providers on November 1st too! It's an all day session, wow. Hope to see some of you there!
