AACC Spring 2012 hopefuls?

U.S.A. Maryland

Hello fellow MD nurses!

I'm just looking to see if there are any prospective Spring 2012 students at AACC? I'm finishing up A&P2 this summer and will be putting my application in in the fall. Anyone take the TEAS yet? Any advice? I'll probably take mine in August when I'm done with classes so I can focus on studying for that as opposed to my other classes.

Does anyone know if we have to go to the Nursing Orientation on Sept 7th?

To klstaley

I applied for the regular day program because I wasn't sure how the Hybrid was going to be. But I don't think it's (Hybrid) going to be that bad after reading posts from students who did it last semester. I will be attending the orientation in September just to have face to face contact with those in the department.

Does anyone know if we have to go to the Nursing Orientation on Sept 7th?

I did not know there was an orientation how did you find that out!?!?

It's on their website under orientations. I plan on going as well for face time :)

Well its on the website.. Its just a generic orientation for applying to the program..

Oh okay I think I did the online one last year. I am still waiting to hear the date of the orientation they make you go to once you get in. When you applied for Fall 2011 it was on the application as a save the date. And since you have to go to keep your spot I figured they would have posted a date by now.

Yeah, I haven't heard a date on that one either.

So you all have recieved an acceptance yet?

I think it's one of the prospective nursing student orientations, not one of the accepted to the program orientations. Since the application deadline isn't until Sept. 15, I don't think they've told anyone they were accepted. A friend of mine put her application in back in June and she hasn't heard anything. She was one of the first people to put her application in.

Ya it's just the prospective nursing student orientation, not the accepted nursing student orientation.

Well I got my letter today in the mail stating that they received everything and that they were evaluating my applications so I guess we will see.... and as though I am out of county I guess my application will be last..

I got an email yesterday saying that my application is complete and they'll be in touch...also in all caps was something like "Please don't contact us, we'll contact you." Hahahaha.

Ran in to a bit of a problem today that I hope doesn't mess with my stuff too much. I'm also applying to University of Maryland School of Nursing for their traditional BSN program. They require that all sciences to have been taken within the last 10 years. Well, I took the equivalent of CHE111 at U of Delaware 11 years ago. This satisfies AACC's nursing requirement, so I had those credits transferred when I first started at AACC. But in order to be able to apply to UMSON, I have to re-take CHE111 (CHE115 is also accepted, but I can't take that class this semester because it's M/W 2-3:15 and I need to be at my son's school to pick him up on Mondays at 3:15, so that's a no-go...can't leave a 5 year old waiting outside a school unattended, he'd try to take over the world or something!). Well in order to register for CHE111, I had to go in to the Registration office for a manual override because I have already taken this course (my transferred credits). Well in the 45 minutes it took me to get to the office, someone took the last seat in the class that I was hoping to sign up for. Sooooo...then I have to beg a professor to let me be added in to their class- thank heavens someone took pity on me and after a few phone calls and sob stories, I got permission. So I go in to have the class added today and they tell me they have to take my transferred credits off my transcript in order to be able to retake the class. Ok, no pro.....oh WAIT, if I don't have chem completed on my transcript, I'm not eligible to apply for AACC's nursing! No bueno. So we come up with the solution- I took chem in high school, and at AACC that satisfies their chem requirement. So I have to get my hands on my high school transcript ASAP. My high school...in northern Delaware. I can't road trip today, I have obligations. Fax maybe? So I call my high school to see what we can do. Their entire computer system is down- no access to email, no access to transcripts, NUFFIN! AHHHHHHH! In the end, everything worked out (I think!). Thanks to all the administrators and professors for their help.

These nursing gods really aren't making this easy for me ;)
