AACC Spring 2012 hopefuls?

U.S.A. Maryland

Hello fellow MD nurses!

I'm just looking to see if there are any prospective Spring 2012 students at AACC? I'm finishing up A&P2 this summer and will be putting my application in in the fall. Anyone take the TEAS yet? Any advice? I'll probably take mine in August when I'm done with classes so I can focus on studying for that as opposed to my other classes.

Yeah, I am confused as well when I talked to the adviser and she told me slots were being filled first come first serve I assumed I would get a letter telling me if I was in or not as soon as they looked over my application. They might just have the deadline as part of a transition into the new admissions process, since its kind of awkward that they changed it in the middle of a school year. And I agree that they maybe don't even know what they are doing yet so they haven't told us anything. Either way fingers crossed we all get an acceptance letter in Sept!

Is anyone else here trying for the Hybrid Program?

So how many spots are there for spring class??

I am not exactly sure if this is true but this site as well as a friend of mine who got in for this fall said that there are around 70 spots.

So how many spots are there for spring class??

I found this online:

Anne Arundel Community College has seen its nursing enrollment grow to 88 this year, up from 72 in previous years. The 16 additional slots are a new hybrid option of online instruction plus in-person labs and clinical work.

I got an email back from the director, Beth Batturs, that it is first come first serve. I think the deadline exists so that they're not still admitting people to the program a few weeks before it starts. As of two weeks ago, she said there were still plenty of spots left. I'm scheduled to take the TEAS test on Wednesday- so I'll be dropping off my application Thursday or Friday. I'm still going to try to UMSON for Spring 2012 and maybe Towson or Bowie State. Good luck to everyone!

I was just reading through this thread for the first time tonight. My husband is going to be transferred to MD in the next year (I am plowing through pre reqs out here in CA) so have started casually researching schools out there. I don't like that it's not competative! That makes me nervous. Any suggestions on other schools out there?

Are you looking for ADN or BSN programs? University of Maryland School of Nursing is an excellent option for BSN- one that I'm looking in to last minute. Where in MD will you & your husband be moving? I can help you more if I know what are you're going to be moving to.

Good luck on your TEAS!

Thanks a bunch! It wasn't too rough. Math, reading comprehension, and English language were what I expected (although I'm second guessing myself on a lot of the grammar!). Thankfully I'm fresh out of A&P2, so that stuff is still fresh in my mind. And I just picked up a Chemistry for Dummies book since I have to retake Chem (it's been 10+ years since I've taken a Chem course), so I brushed up on a few of those topics last night. We'll see how the science section turns out.

I won't know my score for another 2 days.....

Waiting is the worst! I took mine on a Friday and thought I wouldn't get my results until Monday or Tuesday but they were posted Sunday luckily. I was a little bummed out about my test I did very well in the math section (math was always my worst subject) and I did okay on the reading and science. To my surprise my worst section was English and language (which has always been my best subject) I think it had a lot to do with it being the last section and I remember staring at the screen at one point thinking whats the difference between these sentences!! I could barely see the commas my eyes were so shot, I am not used to staring at computer screens for long periods of time lol. I'm sure you did exceptionally well!

Hello everyone,

I am new to this site. I'm glad there is a place where we can exchange information about AACC RN program. I turned in my application on the 12th of Aug but I haven't recieved my email from the department yet informing me if my application was complete or not. Maybe next week . Good luck Spring 2011 hopefuls....I hope to be one of the selected 88.

Welcome armywife94! It's nice to know I might have a fellow military spouse in the program! Are you trying for the Hybrid Program or Regular Day Program? Hopefully we all get accepted, and I hope to meet everyone soon!
