AACC Spring 2012 hopefuls?

U.S.A. Maryland

Hello fellow MD nurses!

I'm just looking to see if there are any prospective Spring 2012 students at AACC? I'm finishing up A&P2 this summer and will be putting my application in in the fall. Anyone take the TEAS yet? Any advice? I'll probably take mine in August when I'm done with classes so I can focus on studying for that as opposed to my other classes.

It's just slightly frustrating to know that someone who did the bare minimum necessary may possibly get a slot before me. It just makes all of the hard work and stress that I put myself through for the last year and a half was for nothing. Oh well... nothing I can do about it now! :)

Exactly how I feel! That's why I expressed such frustration of the first come-first served business. Just ridiculous! I guess we'll see. Finally took my TEAS on Friday. My results were posted today, Advanced! That makes me feel good! Now just to turn in my application!

September 7th at the orientation the Director of Nursing said that only 60 some people have applied for Spring so far. So if you have everything in order and turned in your application by then at least you should definitely be in and not waitlisted. I also asked when we should get the packets in the mail saying if we've been accepted or not and she wasn't sure. She thought that they may have sent a few out already but that we could email Tammie and ask. I haven't emailed her though.

Well that's good and yet I am somewhat disappointed. I liked the thought of being "good enough" to get in oh well. It is what it is, getting the letter and shopping for supplies might make it more exciting =]

I'm a little frustrated by it to but I understand why they are not ranking gpa anymore. The cut off used to always be around a 3.2, 3.3, but who's to say that someone with a 2.5 gpa or even a 3.0 gpa wouldn't make as good of nurse as that someone with the 3.3 or 4.0?

I just called the office and they said that the selection e-mails will be sent out the end of September and the letters will be sent out in mid October

So does that mean we will know if we are in at the end of September but we will not get any information on what we need to do until mid October?

I guess thats all said before she rushed me off the phone

so im wondering if we should be getting the cpr, criminal background check and all now or wait for acceptance?

It wouldn't hurt to get the CPR certification as that's good for a few years. I'd wait on the background check, though.

I'm just going to see what they say in the email we get at the end of the month. If they don't mention anything about cpr, the background check, or the physical I'll probably email them back or call them and ask them if we can do it now or if we should wait until we receive the packet in October.

Did they say how many spots there are exactly? Or does anyone on here know? I know they added the 16 hybrid, but how many traditional spots are there? I turned my application in on Wednesday the 8th, so I hope I got mine in just in time. Fingers crossed and good luck to everyone!!
