Hey fellas, so just thought I'd see everyone else's thoughts on this?

1) WHY NURSING?

2) AGE?

3) LIFE GOAL AFTER NURSING?

1) I choose nursing to be a direct impact on people's lives and encourage people to do things they think they can't do.

2) 23

3) Possibly working towards a masters in nursing or going the pre-med route. Would like to work as an ER nurse and ICU nurse for a couple of years. Also considering the idea of flight nursing...

I'm 24 and nursing won me over after going back n forth with trying to decide on a major

Specializes in CVICU, CRNA.

1) The only career option with real meaning.

2) 21

3) Just graduated with ADN and will finish BSN in 2014. I'll work in ICU and specialize in anesthesia. Or, wherever life takes me. I'm in for the journey;)

Nice! I should also mention that my family is full of doctors and nurses, so I am passionate about nursing but wasn't sure if I wanted to do that first or go straight to medicine. Well nursing won. Accepted to a bsn program and start this August. 8-)

1) Love working with people. The idea of helping someone in their most desperate time of need is pretty awesome.

2) 27 now, 29 when I graduate.

3) I'm going to a CC for my ADN then I'd like to transfer to UW to get my BSN. After that I'd like to work pediatric oncology. Outside of that, I just want the perfect family with the white picket fence.

1) Went into Nursing because I enjoy making a difference, even if its just a small smile. I'm in 4th year, RN, in Canada. I've saved lives (everywhere- clinics, wards, heck even on the street), brought people back to life (in ER) and comforted my patients & their familes while they accept their death (in palliative). Sure there are less glamourous aspects to nursing but its in the 15min when I'm doing a bed bath that can be the most rewarding; if you take that time to get to know your patient(s) I found, and I think every nurse should find, the reason why we do what we do. I'll take a line from the Airforce Pararescuemen here- "So that others may live", Nursing- Best calling on the planet.

2) 22 yrs old graduating and writing my license this June 2013

3) I would love to start in ER and bounce around everywhere. Maybe finally, one day, getting my NP/CRNA; who knows I just wanna end up in California as a new grad!

2) AGE?

3) LIFE GOAL AFTER NURSING?

1) I feel like my whole life I've been receiving help from others, but I've never had it in my power to give it back. I've just always had this mindset that puts me in other people's positions. I want to help others who are not at their best to the best of my ability.

2) 21, just achieved my LVN! Woohoo~

3) I just want to leave this world knowing I've helped save a life

1) it's the only thing I have ever been interested in career wise. I work well under pressure, I'm a critical thinker, and there are not many career choices that include making a difference in a persons life.

2) 22!

3) I want to be a school nurse and eventually become a PNP. I would love to eventually teach at a college one day! I also want to get my teaching degree just to have it. Teaching kindergarten is my 2nd choice!

1) WHY NURSING? Nursing is my second career. My first was editing/writing and I decided that I needed to be engaged with people on a different, personal, daily level. I got my ADN in December 2012, passed the NCLEX, and am now in training for my first nursing job on a hospital telemetry unit. It's totally awesome.

2) AGE? 45 and I am really happy to have made this change in my life. I was terrified to be a 40-something guy entering school for my ADN. But the only person who gave me crap about it was myself.

3) LIFE GOAL AFTER NURSING? When I was studying for my ADN, a couple of professors told me I should plan for an eventual NP degree. I'm not sure about that. I already have a BA in history (like that's been useful) and an MS in journalism (which fueled my writing and editing for the last 15 years.) I definitely plan to at least get my BSN, since it sounds like I might need it on my resume in a few years if I decide to relocate and apply to hospitals that require it. But I'm just happy to get through each day right now.

Specializes in Nursing Education, CVICU, Float Pool.

1) WHY NURSING?

My mom was the first nurse I truly "knew". Im not a shy person, and I've always been really sociable person. "Love to talk" according to my family [Rolls Eyes]. As I got older I discovered that I loved learning, but I liked being hands-on. I wanted a career that would allow me to support myself, help my family every once in a while, travel, and have flexibility. I love seeing people get better and helping figuring out what's wrong with them, knowing I helped them recover and get through difficult times. I am adaptable and independent, but I even work better in a team. I like not being the "top dog" so to speak, at least not right off. I'm definitely a people person. I love meeting people from different places, with different languages and cultural backgrounds. I'm kind of a geek. Lol! Nursing catered to all of my wacky requirements for a happy and successful career. Nursing can take you anywhere.

2) AGE?

I am currently 20! I am about to graduate from nursing school in 27 days! I stared nursing school when I was 18. I go to the same nursing school my mom went to 13 some years ago. Kinda of cool.

3) LIFE GOAL AFTER NURSING?

I am getting my first apartment and moving out on my own this summer!

I plan to pursue my DNP with certification as a FNP in the future. I have gotten a job offer on a CVICU, ER, And Neurotic ICU thus far! I want to be apart of the convent care movement. I really like the concept of bring affordable to the patient instead of them having to go out of their way to get care. I live in a rural area.

In another career I became interesting mental health and psychiatry and saw that the best involvement I could have in mental health would be as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. I had all the prereqs in my first degree so nearly a decade later I went to a RN program, graduated, and immediately started in a psych NP program. I do work in a medical unit as a while I'm in grad school, but this particular role really isn't for me.
