So my family does not approve me to go into nursing..
The best advice I have ever read. @OP I am in the similiar boat with my parents they think nursing is going to take to long and want me to go into buisness or corrections. Its just how parents are I suppose.

Is it worthwhile to become a CNA before going to nursing school?
If the program doesnt require it I would say dont do it. It gave me such a head ache with financial aide. You can volunteer at the hospital and be recognized in the point system for it. but if you are not sure if nursing is for you I would say do it, doing the grunt work was a real eye opener for me. I loved it personally.

Any Former Veterans?
Yes! What was your asvab score? Did you retrain or just enlisted chose that MOS. How is it so far? do you train with the rest of the 68 whiskeys or do you straight to LVN training while skipping over the EMT training?

Nursing vs. Social Work (the never ending internal debate)
I am still a prenursing student but I will chime in my two cents. First things first, for Social Work you need atleast a Masters to get into the field. Where as with Nursing you can find work with an ASN Degree ( A lot of hospitals do want BSN Degrees, but in my area ASN is still accepted) Now you will take a huge cut in pay if you do social work. The Average for Social Work is 50 thousand dollars a year, were as for Nursing its around 70 thousand dollars a year. Remember this is starting out. (I used Indeed.com for the averages) Now both professions help people. And I too am thinking which route to take. But Since you are already in a Nursing program I would advise you to finish it, try it out for a year or two and if you dont like it go on for your Masters in Social Work.

Why more men are needed
I have plenty of respect for Nurses female and male alike. Why alot more men arent going into the field I wouldnt know. I am a Male and I going into this field to make a difference in some ones life and maybe even save a life or two.

Microbiology Fall 2013!!!
Took it last semester. I bought the atlas too thinking it would help.... I never opened it for class. Its a great class that can be challenging at times but you will be fine if you apply your self.

Which one should I take first?
Well I should be done with all my prerequisite classes by fall of 2014 and hoping to apply to several Nursing programs spring of 2014. But here is my dilema. I can take Anatomy or Physiology this summer and take the one I did not take in the Fall. I am leaning more on Physiology in the summer largely because the Professor who teaches Anatomy in the summer is well..... Not the professor I would like to have. Were as I have met the Physiology professor as she stepped in to some of my Micro biology classes in the pass and absolutely loved her! she was very help ful. But with all this being said.... This is real life and I want to get everything DONE. So if I have to take anatomy first I will. So thoughts? Does it really matter? Anatomy or Physiology first? ((All in all I think I will do okay either way, this next semester I am taking Stats and Chemistry together XD))

First Microbiology Pop Quiz
The hardest part of microbiology for me was calibrating the microscopes... I almost dropped the class because it was so difficult for me. Other then that pretty straight forward class.

Any Former Veterans?
Hey guys. I have decided to enlist in the Military. I am hoping to become a Medic either in the Navy, or Air Force or even the Army. (I use the word "Medic" Loosely, I know that each branch calls them different things ) So just curious any Veterans here who are now pursuing a Career in Nursing? Or in health care for that matter.
