Two RN Jobs as a new Grad
Okay, so here's the thing. I recently graduated nursing school. I plan on being a travel nurse after I gain experience. I currently work at local hospital as a CNA and I've been working there since my last year of nursing. I love the people and I accepted an part time RN position there. So I just need to take my NCLEX. The local hospital is 8 hour shifts. Today I got called from a big hospital in the city (about an hour from me) about a position. I love love love the hospital and I am so eager about all the learning and growth opportunities. I also have a chance to continue my education at the school connected to this hospital with almost (80% tuition paid) for BSN program. I would have to travel or stay in the city for 2 days. The jobs are mostly 3 12's Nights...Which I like. I am strongly considering doing both...is this nuts? I would do 3 12's in the city and then 2 or 3 8's in my town.... I really don't wanna turn down a job that I said I would take but I also have another opportunity. In total, I would be working 52-60 hours/weekly. Thoughts?

I am Discouraged by My HESI scores
So I am very discouraged.... I've been taking HESI tests throughout my time in nursing school and never once did I pass a HESI test except for a Pharm HESI: which I got over 900. I took the HESI exit and did not pass...I got 760. I did the a review and retook it but my score did not increase much of anything and I still didn't pass. We only have to take it twice. If we don't pass the second time, It's up to us to strengthen our weak spots. I did pretty good in all of my classes. I am doing the hurst review and took my first Hurst quiz and let's just say it was horrid. I ended up doing better on my second hurst quiz with a 74/125. What am I doing wrong? Am I just a bad test taker? If the HESI is a true predictor of passing the NCLEX, then I'm doomed.

Are there any gay nurses here?
Yes, I am a Pansexual Woman who recently graduated. I have a million friends who are gay. Matter of fact, my gay best-friend who also went to nursing school used to live in Oralando, FL and frequented the place that got shot up. It was heartbreaking for him and it broke my heart as well... He knew some of the people who died... I am grieving...we are grieving... We need more love and less hate. We can't fight hate with hate.

Anyone else a planner nerd?
I am a planner nerd! People think I'm nuts but I save dates of exams, too numbers etc in google calendar. I also plan naps, readings (and how long it'll take), amount of notes, etc. I don't see how people don't plan.

School with Anti Anxiety Medication
Hi everyone! It's been a while since I posted. I am serious need of some advice. My anxiety has been getting more serious with family problems, etc. I will be starting my last semester of nursing school in a few days. I am excited but nervous. Im graduating in May and that's something to rejoice about. I've been having more and more panic attacks and this has been making me forgetful of a lot of things. I was getting worried about myself. My doctor prescribed Ativan and Effexor (37 mg). I am wondering about if anyone has been on meds and suffered through school because of it or did it help you? I am so worried I will have severe side effects or be dull and sleepy all of the time. Can anyone share any experiences?

Should I be worried about my HESI score?
Hello guys! I was wondering if you guys could weigh in on this. My school gives HESI exams after each semester to see where we are and such. I thought I would do great because I got an B in all classes. I bombed it! They said the recommended score should be 900/class average 837. I got 588 which is 59%. I'm not sure what to think about it. It makes me a little worried. I'm not sure why I did so badly on it. Should I be worried? What should I do? Study how they ask questions since it was a different formats than the personalized tests our instructors give us. By the way, my entrance HESI was 80%.

Mental Health Nursing Tips & Book Recomendations
Hi guys! I finished my first semester of nursing and I am moving on to my second semester this January. My first class is Mental Health. I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on getting through it. What helped you? Study tips and things to remember? I also would like to have a book I could do practice questions in or of that sort. Any book recommendations.

First Nursing Exam!
I thought I'd share this with you guys since you guys have been a huge motivation to me on this journey. I am in my 3rd week of Nursing school. This is the first Nursing classes. Our classes are 8 week long. People told me that most people bombed or fail their first nursing exam. Between studying for my Abbreviations and Symbols quiz (we have to get an 80& or we must retake it. I got a 95%!), dosage and calculations math quiz (must have a 90% or must retake it. - First time 60%, second time 90%), reading stacks of stuff and filling out my notes, I hardly had time. I ended up studying two days before our test and I am happy to say that I got a 93% on my first nursing exam! People were saying it was hard and some of the smarties were getting D's and C's but I am grateful! That was a sign for me to keep going and that this was the right career for me.

Transferring from Nursing Schools
Is it possible? I just got into 1st Year Nursing at my community college. It's a 2 year program. I may be getting married next year and I want to transfer to the school where my soon-to-be husband is. He is in Michigan and I am in Illinois.
