Omg! I've always loved nurses who are comfortable with their masculinity! I love guy nurses! They are so brave! I heard recently that there is a lot of discrimination against male nurses wich is just ugly! You guys should just ignore the haters and keep doin what you're doing! :)

Nursing is a profession of well-educated, adult professionals.

I don't think referring to adult men as "boys" does much to advance a positive, adult, professional image.

Perhaps a title other than "Boy Nurses" would be more appropriate for this thread.

It may be an issue, but if you noticed the original poster's age, she/he is only 17. Perhaps some kindness to new potential members of our profession is also needed.

actually im a nursing student that works in a ER as a secretary and the male nurses in the unit bring balance to all that progesterone.

Plus theyre REALLY good nurses, I like when theyre on my shift.

I dont see any discrimination whatsoever

How about Murse. I have always enjoyed that one and find it fits quite well.

murse sounds silly, and male nurse even worse. I prefer to say i'm a nurse... who happens to be male. I've never said female doctor, or female policeman, etc..... why do we have to be sexist in nursing? It's odd I think.

Every now and all of us guys that work the night shift are on at once. We call 'em "Testosterone Nights" and they're far and few between. Those nights are surprisingly mellow.

The only one that calls me a murse is the wife...but that's personal. I am a nurse. I am also a man. Simple, right?

I worked with a great guy a number of years ago who, when asked if he was a male nurse (and he got asked that quite a bit, since it was a long time aago nd nurses of the masculine persuasion actually were novelties), used to always reply pleasantly, "No, I take care of females, too."

Cute response Treat et Street! Yeah...maybe I should've thought about the title a little more..what can I say? I'm truely sorry and I am an airhead sometimes....But I really do appriciate male nurses! I think they're cool!

Actually I think Murse was inducted in the Dictionary as an official word. The definition was a male PURSE ..Sorry guys lol
