Hi everyone just a question, im trying to word this so it wont be so long but anyway, how long did you wait after graduating lpn school to apply for RN school? Did you work a year & then apply of applied while in your last semester of lpn school or what?

I graduated with my LPN in 2000 and worked on a medical floor until 2009 which is when I started to earn my BN

I graduated in 2009, I started taking pre-recs for my RN right after that. I start a RN class in January.

Specializes in LTC, Rehab, CNA, HHA, Nurse Mentor.

Well. I wanted to shoot straight out of LPN school to The RN program, but the pre-requisites were that one needed to be working as a LPN and provide a letter. Took me 6 months to find a job and 2 months to start. I graduate next year in August. I was afraid that if I don't go back to school now, I'll never do it. Good luck and Happy Nursing!

Specializes in ER, Trauma, Med-Surg/Tele, LTC.

I graduated LVN school in June 2010, did my pre-reqs while working, started an LVN-ADN bridge program in June 2012, and am currently starting to apply for RN-BSN programs so I can I hopefully start one for Fall 2013.

I graduated from LPN school in February 2010, Got a job in May and started my prerequisites in September 2010. I worked for a year and applied to the RN program in December 2011 got in RN program January 2012 and I graduate from an ADN program in may 2013.

Specializes in hospice, HH, LTC, ER,OR.

I graduated from LPN school in Dec 2008. I got my licensed and working by May 2009. My first week on the floor I discovered that I do not like working in the nursing home and enrolled back in school to take the rest of the prereqs that I didnt have or that had expired(over 5 years old in). I was finally accepted this year 2012 to an LPN-RN bridge. I graduate May 2013. I will enroll in the fall for the one Prereq that I do not have for a BSN degree! GOOD LUCK :)!

Graduated in 2005. Worked in a nursing home for about a year then moved to med/tele. I wanted to spend time with my babies so I slowly worked on my prerequisite. I will be done with my RN spring 2013, but they did not have a bridge program. I don't regret the time I spent as an LPN, because of it the RN program has been a easy for me. I haven't had to put the time into it like other students to get A's.

Specializes in thoracic ICU, ortho/neuro, med/surg.

I had to work a year and finish pre-reqs before I could apply, but it feels like I just went straight on, since I did a year of full-time pre-reqs in between. (:

Specializes in Geriatrics, Med/Surg, hospice.

I graduated Dec 2011, started working Jan 2012 and applied to the LVN- RN at my school in August. I will find out in November if I get accepted. Until then I am taking BSN pre-reqs. If I get in I will start Jan 2013 and graduate with my RN May 2014. I then plan to finish my BSN pre-reqs and start an RN-BSN program in 2015. Whew.

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

I graduated with an LPN in May 1992 and went back to school August 1992 and got my ADN in May 1994.

I grduated LVN school in Spring 2008, started working as an LVN on the med-surg floor of a hospital in Fall 2009, started my LVN-RN bridge program in the Summer of 2011 and graduated in Spring 2012. (I am now licensed as an RN but still working as an LVN on the same med-surg floor I have been at for 3 years waiting patiently for an RN position to open up.) For me, it's all been a slow process. I took my time getting my pre-reqs done after graduating LVN school.
