  1. Im wondering for all the ER nurses out there, what do you expect to hear know when getting report from an urgent care center when referring a patient. Sometimes i get put on hold for extended periods of time or the nurse seems too busy to receive report or i get drilled for a whole health history when I only just met a patient a few minutes ago. I know you ER nurse are busy, but when I call to give a heads up, I am doing this as a courtesy or at least I think I am. My facility does not have a mandatory policy to call the ER when providers are referring patients over to ER. When I call I usually provide: Name DOB Complaint Pertinent history Results of abnormal labs Any meds given Mode of travel This takes about 2 mins tops. What else should I add? Just want to make sure that Im giving the best and most efficient report. TIA :)
  2. I graduated from LPN school in February 2010, Got a job in May and started my prerequisites in September 2010. I worked for a year and applied to the RN program in December 2011 got in RN program January 2012 and I graduate from an ADN program in may 2013.
  3. I know this is an old post but I just have to say...OMG...THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! I am a new LPN grad and I have been working for about 2 weeks now and struggling when it comes to narrative notes. This was extremely helpful and will use this as my template from now on.
  4. Thanks August that was some story...congratulations to you and i have some hope after reading all these post..thank you guys for the pep talk Im gonna keep my head up and just stay persistant and keep applying.

  6. Ok so I am a new LPN graduate (2/18/2010 Whohoo!!) became licensed early march and I went to a healthcare Job Fair today and I was so excited to go because I felt like that I would have a good chance of finally getting a job. Well...all I kept hearing today was "we dont hire new nurses". 95% of the recruiters were saying that they require a year experience:confused:. Now my question is, how is a new grad nurse supposed to get experience if no one will hire me? ..Im am really begining to get discouraged. I have filled out at least 50 paper applications and sumitted my resume prior to today, I have also done follow-up phone calls which most of the time I get VM and of course no call back. Ugh! Im so frustrated...what to do in a situation like this? Just keep filling them out? Im sorry for the vent session but I had to get this out. Thanks for listening...
  7. I thought that BSN programs cover all/mostly pre-reqs in the first two years (freshman and sophmore) and the last two years focus on all nursing courses and clinical experience. Based on this information that I had, how is that possible? My LPN program was 10 months and very fast paced literature/ lecture and 3 days a week clinical. I may be wrong, maybe someone can enlighten me.
  8. I graduate February 11, 2010! I still feel like it's a Long way to go. Maybe I'm just not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Let me tell you it's been a long 9 months since I started February 2009! May be after the holidays I might feel some exitement for now just gotta keep my head in the books and get ready for my PEDS test tomorrow.
  9. Thats great info, Im about to go on their website to check it out...thanks again.
  10. Thank you for that info, I heard that there is such a waiting list for CCP and DCCC and they only let a certain amount of LPN per class. But I will look into it to get my own info....Thanks !
  11. Hi, I am a LPN student about to graduate in 4 months and was wondering if anyone knew of a LPN to RN school in the area? I am willing to do online but I would prefer classroom setting and I am looking for a Fulltime/ fastest route to RN. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.. Thanks
  12. What type of test is it? TEAS or NET? Either way you should study and like mum2mykidz say there are books you can purchase to help prepare you? I took the NET and found it to have a lot of fractions and decimals and the there was a reading comprhension test as well. Good Luck on the test!
  13. Congrats! I know the feeling, I start school in Feb and I super scared and excited all in one. I'm just got all my required shots and in Jan, I will complete all my clearances. Good luck!
