mildred elley practical nursing program

Has anyone graduated from mildred elley's practical nursing program or knows if this is a good school?

i just went to the info session last night. i'm still so undecided about this school only because it's so new and there is nothing to compare it to. i know they have an albany campus but that doesn't mean that this one will run as smoothly. it seems pretty easy to get into. the info session was pretty rushed. they answered all of my questions but we were in a group of 5 people and the answers were pretty vague.

the school only had a small amount of students there when i went. (in the evening) some classes were in session. the school is still under construction.

to anyone who is already attending: how are the nursing classes? i already have most of my core classes like english, medical term, psych, a&p1 and 2. but i want to know about the nursing classes? how are the evening and weekend classes? where are the clinicals held?

i'm going to take my placement test next week. maybe monday or tuesday.

Specializes in Cardiology.

I'm not sure this is at all helpful to anyone, but I have a friend who was teaching there (the Albany campus) for this last spring semester, and she hated it. She said the students were really rough (as in too obnoxious to listen to the instructor, cheating, refusing to separate for tests, rude, etc...) and she would not be going back to teach another semester. She has been teaching for a few years and teaches at other schools with no problem, but at least at the Albany campus, she is encountering really belligerent students. I'm not sure why this would be the case, but I've known her for over a decade and she is a very patient person with almost 20 years of nursing experience, so if she says this is the case, it is probably true. Just a heads up of what has happened in the past for anyone who, like me, would be too uncomfortable in an atmosphere like that to be able to learn well, especially after spending that much on tuition.

Good luck to you all!

Hi,

I currently attend Mildred Elley at the Albany campus. I can't speak about other lpn classes but the class of about 40 people I am in now is great. Everyone is eager to learn and help each other my instructors have no problem getting through the corriculum. I love it I am in the weekend program I don't now if that makes a difference or not. But everyone I started with are serious students of diverse back grounds and ages. I am very happy so far and hopefully don't have to experience and classrooms like that.

Thanks,:nurse:

thanks smiley, you did answer my questions, question did they give u a laptop? did you start your clinicals? if you did how is it? how are the classes? is it really difficult as most ppl say it is?

I guess you can sign up to get a laptop but financial aid told me to just request extra money for living expenses and buy it out right cause it's cheaper.

I have started my clinicals. I only have one more mod to go, I'm done Dec 3!!! Clinicals are good. I had a horrible teacher first mod but other than that I enjoy it and learn a lot. The classes are hard. You need to think differently to take the tests. Just study a lot and you should be fine!

I attend the Albany campus on the weekends. :)

There are a couple students that travel from NYC. I think they have somewhere they stay on the weekends we have school.

hi smiley071684

I got accepted. i was wondering if it'll too much to take lp120, lp130 and ma112 together for one module?

thanks!

Does anyone know how much it cost to go to Mildred Elley in Albany for the LPN program?

Thanks!

Hey just wanted to know more about having to take cma frist before I can apply to the lpn program at this school

i just heard about mildred elley nursing school can anyone tell when does the next class start and how much is it

Mildred Elley in NY is truly unorganized and filled with unprofessionals... And I am speaking of the teachers and administration. New York Department of Education is well aware of their antics. I am a a student-a great student... I also hold a prior degree. This is more of a welfare program... Loose academic program, no inspiration, no class... Get your RN BA degree like me*

The last graduating class paid out of pocket to receive a preparatory class for the state boards... That should let you know what is up*

annnnnd some of the students are animals...

Hi I graduated September 2011. the program sucks. The financial aid and admissions lied to so many students including me. I was promised grants because of my excellent grades but nothing was done. Alot of students are very upset, some almost had an emotional breakdown. During several semesters they actually went "green", meaning no hands out with vital information nothing at all. They went GREEN but our pockets were empty. It's such a shame and disgrace I pray for the September student. Clinical on the other hand a disaster, I probably gave two insulin shots in 18 months. I attended and graduated form another college and I have never experienced such b---- in my life. I wish you luck dont say I didnt warn you. (Manhattan Campus). So many things to be said so many such a disgrace. by the way the advance group 2011 no one has taken the boards no one they are fighting for their applications to be sent out, most of them didnt come back to the school. Need to be reported to many lies tooooooo many.
