hello there. i'm not an lpn as of yet, but i will be in 2008 permitting if i pass the test. i'm not really good in math and i have disliked it all my life. as you know, nurses need a lot of math in order to do doseage calculations, ht. and wt., surface area, drug doseages for peds, monitoring iv, giving im, sq, or id injection etc...i hope math won't be my downfall as a nurse because i really love nursing! does anybody have any suggestions about an easier way to do mental math for drug calculations??? any help will be appreciated. thank you so much. :):):)

Hello mrsrasinkain. I am (or rather was) taking an ATI Mental Health test. ATI is a test that we take in school to prepare us for the big huge, scary, NCLEX-PN at the end of the LPN course. They are different types of ATI (Assessment Technologies Institute) tests. The one that I had was on the topic of mental health. I did not take it today as I had planned. I have spring break and my teacher told the class that we will be taking it after spring break because some of the class was not ready for the exam. so yup, that is ATI. We take several of those exams during the LPN course. I'll be finished in December. Hope this answers your question and take care. :D:twocents::):typing:nurse:

hi peridotgirl! how're you doing? sorry i only got your pm today because i've been pretty busy lately.

no job yet. i have only been licensed since last week and i have not actually received my paper license in the mail yet. but i went for my second interview for the same job yesterday. it is a sub-acute rehab facility and it is owned by my county so the benefits are excellent and it is unionized. i don't really know what it means to be in the union. anyone care to explain? thanks in advance. but i really like the benefits! can you believe that if i work during holidays i would get paid triple??

i am really hoping i get the job. the hr people told me that i got the job but it is not "official" yet because they are doing my background checks and everything and the people above the hr need to sign as well like the freeholders since the facility is county owned. it would take 3-4 weeks so i am very scared that they might change their mind about hiring me. but they really like me so i think i got the job. i don't know. i feel the same way as when i was waiting for my nclex result. i really really hope i get this job. please pray for me!!:saint:

well, sorry for the long post. i will keep you updated and good luck with school.

regards,

nurse angel :D

p.s. i was told the maximum patient load is 25 per nurse. is that a good ratio my fellow nurses? thanks.

Congratulations on the job offer! I don't know anything about nurse:patient ratios yet (or the answer to any of your other questions - I know, what good am I?) but good luck to you!! I'm sure they won't change their minds.

HAHAHAHAHA so apparently a colon followed by the letter P makes a sticky-out-tongue face.

congrats on the job offer!! I'm sure you'll get it agldragon..:yeah::):nurse: a 25 pt to nurse ratio isn't bad either. I've heard of nurses having more.. good luck!!
