hello there. i'm not an lpn as of yet, but i will be in 2008 permitting if i pass the test. i'm not really good in math and i have disliked it all my life. as you know, nurses need a lot of math in order to do doseage calculations, ht. and wt., surface area, drug doseages for peds, monitoring iv, giving im, sq, or id injection etc...i hope math won't be my downfall as a nurse because i really love nursing! does anybody have any suggestions about an easier way to do mental math for drug calculations??? any help will be appreciated. thank you so much. :):):)

Hey.

I just wrote my med exam...I stressed about it for awhile..but I do recommend printing drud calculations off the net..just google drug calculations, thats how I studied..it really helped me. I also was not very good with Math and I ended up getting 100%. I dont think i would have gotten that mark without studying a bit though... Good luck hope this helps...

..just an FYI... there is a lab book and online class that you can take for an hour of college credit if you would like some tutoring skills in medical math. It is a great reference for applying medication drip rates, etc. You can find out about it at cloud.edu. The name of the class is "Medical Math"; just click on the "online classes" link for instructions to enroll. Hang in there!!

Thank u Med.ed I really appreicate it. Actually, I have this fantastic teacher that teaches us how to calculate meds really well.
