How Hard is LPN school if You are not good in science.

Nurses are scientists.

Maybe you will do better at these subjects because you really want to succeed this time around....who knows, your drive might be better now compared to when you were in high school.

Nursing school takes serious dedication and studying skills.

Talk with a counselor or academic advisor at a local college. They will probably have you take an entrance exam. Then guide you to a curriculum that fits what you need to learn to get what you are looking for. Good Luck!

To share: a PN program is VERY rigorous; I remember that a big portion of cohorts when doing A&P were in danger of failing or borderline passing. When it came time for our Medication Math tests to make sure we were competent for clinical, that was pretty shaky for us, but most of us pulled through.

The time constraints of a PN program takes some serious dedication and good study habits; if you need some sort of review, like HappyWife stated, review with a counselor at your local CC to get proper feedback and guidance to start you on your path.

If it has been a while since you were in school i would highly recommend taking a highschool level cHem and bio As Well As A seNior math.

One thing I would tell you is that just because you are 'bad' at these subjects NOW, there is absolutely nothing standing in the way of you applying yourself to the task and getting really GOOD at them in the future.

You may not be nursing school material now- why not spend the next couple of years going 'back to basics', learning all you can, developing study skills and BECOME the best possible candidate you can become.

The only way to find out is to try!

I had to take chemistry twice in high school due to me failing it. And I suck at math. The thought if having to do bath gives me minor panic attacks. (Seriously)

But I made it through. I failed my first math test in school (just basic math) by a few points. I cried and got upset because I was told if you didn't pass this test you couldn't pass meds. I took it two more times and finally passed.

When pharm came along I got a 98% on the all math test. It was 100 questions.

Thanks to khan academy! He explains things so well!

When I go back to get my RN my anxiety will build back up, but once you get the formula down on the math, it gets easy.

I was terrible at both math and science in high school. Taking pre-nursing classes at community college now and start LPN in the fall. I will tell you I had some catching up to do but am excelling at both algebra and biology now in college. I think it's more of a mind set and where you are in life. How much do you want it and what are you willing to do and sacrifice to get it.

I was horrible in just about all high school classes and just finished my B.S.N. and passed my NCLEX first try. You can do anything you put your mind to!
